My mothers cheery attitude is a blessing.
She paid no attention to the alert she got from my school, that I had detention. If this were a different time, my life would have been hell.
My father walks in, he looks better than he has before. His hair is neatly trimmed, and he has shaven his beard. I don't understand why people groom themselves to be sent to the dirt. He gives my mother a kiss on the cheek and turns to me.
"Young man, we have a little talking to do" He motions me to the living room while I can hear my mother and sister Carly talking about The Hour. He sits down and slowly starts to laugh. "Mrs.Bleu told me what you said to here in class." He grins at me and I force a smile. His expression hardens. "Now if you don't pass the test.... You're uncle Sage runs a repair shop near the Watchtower. You can work th--" I interupt him.
"Dad, don't worry about me. I'll pass the test, Ok? You should be worrying about yourself... you only have a few days left" My voice cracks.
"There is one last thing I have to tell you......," He opens up his messenger bag and shows me a small chip.
I gasp. The infamous chip in his hand is embedded into every single human in Oranios, or so I thought. The chip sends a virus that activates after 50 years, and kills. I start to stutter.
"Shhhh" My father whispers. I take the chip from him and read the label.
It is not his chip
It is mine.
