Chapter 1

Fallyn's POV

"Sound check starts in 5 minutes, Fallyn!" the stage director called out to me from my dressing room.

"Right! I'll be there in a sec!" I called back out to him. I put on my sweat pants and a plain t-shirt to get ready for sound check. I don't like to wear anything fancy for it. After getting dressed, I headed out the door towards the stage area. I'm so nervous. This is my biggest performance yet. The VMA's. There will be so many celebrity's there and I hope I don't do anything wrong.

I grabbed my microphone, and headed behind the set to get to the start of where I would perform. "Okay! You ready, Fallyn?" the director declared. "Ready!" I yelled out. Tonight I'm singing my big single "Pretend". It's become pretty big and I'm so happy. The platform I was standing on began to rise as the music began to play. When I made it to stage level, I started to sing. The back up dancers began to dance.

I belted the lyrics into my microphone, and danced a little with the dancers behind me. After the song ended, I looked over at the director and he gave me a thumbs up. "Great job!" he called out. "Can't wait to see it tonight!" "Thank you so much!" I yelled out to him giving a smile. "C'mon, Fallyn! We need to get you ready!" I heard a voice say. I turned around and saw my make up artist, Jessica. "I'm coming!" I said walking off the stage. I'm almost ready. I've already practiced dancing at dance rehearsals, just finished sound check, and now it's time to get my make up and dress on.

When we returned to the dressing room, I changed into a dark blue one shoulder gown, and Jessica curled my sandy blonde hair. Then she applied my makeup. "You nervous?" she asked. "Kind of. I'm just hoping I don't mess up tonight." I uttered. "Oh c'mon, Fallyn, you'll do great." Jessica declared. "When does the red carpet start?" I asked. "Around 7:15 I think." Jessica told me. I nodded, and slipped my feet into my gold heels. "You look absolutely beautiful, Fallyn." Jessica said.

*1 hour later*

I turn and smile, in different directions to help the cameras get my picture. "Fallyn! Fallyn!" I hear the paparazzi cry out. "Fallyn! Look over here!" Several interviewers were on the red carpet and I decided to go talk to them for awhile. It is pretty frantic around here. After staying on the red carpet for awhile, I head inside to find my seat. I sit down and Jessica sits next to me. "I can't wait to see you up there!" she says, and I give her a smile. After about one hour, the VMA's are about to officially begin. Katy Perry opened up the show. Her performance was absolutely amazing! After she was done singing, they were about to give out the first award. One Direction won the first award of the night for Best Song of the Summer. I'm actually glad they won, they deserve it. After another award was presented, Jessica looked over at me and told me, "Fallyn, it's almost time for you to go on. We have to go backstage now." I took a deep breath and followed her backstage.
