11.16.16There once lived a couple. Good friends that let their love blossom. They loved each other more and more each and every day. She promised to love him forever; he promised to always stay by her side. One day, the girl got very sick and had to go to the hospital. She was told she could not leave and that she only had weeks left. A month passed and during a visit the girl told her boyfriend to look inside of her purse and pull out a paper with a heart marked on it. So he did, it was a contract with his signature on it. She recalled of the time she made him sign it.
It stated that if she was the first to die that he would 1. Personally erase every trace of her existence 2. He himself forget about her and them as a couple 3. Find someone else that truly made him happy and keep living on for them etc. He held back his tears from her saying that he couldn't do any of those things. That he'd rather die alongside her than even begin to even grasp the idea of a life without her. He walked out of the room with a grim and lost look upon his eyes. Walking with no destination.
An idea popped into his head, he wanted to show her that he would never do such a thing. He ended up in the park a few blocks from the hospital and called her on her cell phone.
"Yes?" she answered
"I did what you asked of me, I've found someone else that wants to make me happy and we're going out tonight." shocked her eyes filled with agonizing tears her voice trembled as she replied
"Th-Tthat's wonderful.... I wish you all the best of luck...." he heard her sorrowful voice and was about to explain it was all a hoax to show that he could love only her, but before he did she said with a lowered voice
"I....I'm sorry...." her hand gave up, the phone dropped to the floor.
He called out her name over and over again but the only sound he could hear was the blare of her machine and doctors rushing into her room.
His heart started beating with fear, before he knew it he was rushing back to the hospital. Left. Right. Left. Right. He didn't feel his chest being squeezed from the running nor the aching of his feet from ignoring every person and doctor between him and her hospital bed. As soon as he got to her side his eyes were tightened shut and he explained everything to her with clenched fists. But once his eyes reopened from one of the doctors hands on his shoulder. He realized he was too late.... Her eyes were gently closed. The machines were all turned off. A single tear remained on her cold pale cheek from her excessive crying she had just gone through.
"I love you...." her last words reverberated through his entire soul.
Dropping to his knees he apologized to the lifeless body over and over again. He pulled a chair to her to sit beside her, caressed her cheek, and slowly kissed her telling her "I love you...."
He didn't have the strength to lift his head upward so he laid crying on her static chest remembering her lovely heartbeat. All the memories they created together. The girl's soul sat up in her bed, she noticed her crying lover on her chest and ran her fingers through his hair. Her eyes were nothing more than shadows with only ribbons of tears across her nearly transparent face. She heard every single word he said and gave a tearful smile in which he could not even see. Leaning down she gently kissed his head for the last time, even though she had no voice her lips shifted to form the words
"I love you too.... Promise...."
Though her words were not heard the boy could feel what she had said. He finally rose back up and walked over to the blood covered surgical instruments. Grabbing one of the longer surgical knives and plunging it through his own heart. Keeping his promise to her. To be by her side.... Forever....
