The Long Way Down

I'm walking,
Walking down the back roads.
I feel the breeze;
See it blowing through the fields
Through these woods,
These woods that I used to call home.
I take the long way down,
The long way,
It helps me remember
How everything used to be;
Bright, and hopeful,
But that was but a dream.
The long way down,
It makes me realize,
That not all is good,
And not all is bad,
It helps me remember who I used to be, but that me is gone, that's the me I used to be, and now only remember.
So I take the long way down,
The more beautiful the sad,
This summer breeze,
Carries away my tears.
To see a new tomorrow,
The me I want to be.
I take the long way down,
It drys away my tears,
With memories of my childhood,
The one that I was so fond of,
But noe I know,
I've always taken the long way down.
