Shortly after the first semester of school started, Alexis had to have her wisdom teeth taken out. She was desperately hoping she wouldn't have to go through this experience alone, but she did. She had to miss several days of school, which put her behind on her work. "Why did he break my heart" , "Am I not pretty enough", she began thinking. Alexis may have smiled and laughed on the outside, but secretly she was dying inside. All she wanted was a friend. Alexis's friend Paris always told her what Devon was doing with his life. Everyday there seemed to be a different story or tragic event that took place. Prior to her surgery, Alexis had to take medication to stop the pain she was having, little did she know her life was about to change. At night she could never seem to fall asleep, there was a full blown out novel running through her mind. So each night she took a pill. Doctors gave her Oxycodone, Katorlac, and Amoxicillin. During the day she would take them to clear her mind. But little did she know they were slowly killing her. Suddenly one day, out of the blue her friend gives her some devastating news....Devon had gotten a girl pregnant. Alexis's whole heart dropped to the floor immediately. "How could he have done that, he knew that's what I always wanted". She couldn't bare to watch as another girl would have the life she has always wanted with Devon. Everyday she tried harder and harder to hide her depression. She first started loosing weight and hair, then going on five months she had gained so much weight. Why did this one guy have so much power over her? Alexis finally was able to come back to school. Trying very hard to hide how hurt she was, she turned and saw Devon kissing his new girlfriend. That killed her inside. Shortly after arriving home, she began to take Oxycodone. Days went by and she noticed she only had one left, she turned to find another medication and those were also gone. Little did she know, she was becoming an addict. She wanted to stop but didn't know how. It made her happy because, she could finally take her mind off of everything that was going on. She was lost and wanted to be found. "Why does everyone do me wrong and leave my side? "Am I really a bad person?" She wanted a fresh start. Late at night she would lose herself into amazing songs, that she felt told her story word for word. Singing and eating were her ways to escape reality for a while. "I want to run away from all of this." She began focusing on her school work. Alexis's grade became outstanding. She was determined to make sure she could run off to college, and leave all of her dreadful tears behind. It seemed like every time she moved forward, something had to happen to pull her back even further than where she started.
