//a short story//

i sat in my seat on the hard ground, watching him walk around. he had no particular reason to be up rather than it being a mindless activity. i stared closely at him, not sure of what to say. he glanced at me, noticed my eyes on him and laughed. 'what?' he said chuckling. 'nothing.' i said and he sat back down, closer to me now. our legs were touching, neither of us moved. there were people around us, loud and moving around. the cars were overbearing, creating as much noise pollution as the cigarettes pollute his lungs. his hand rested on my thigh and i felt my breath leave my body, keeping my body tight, but in the best way possible. he glanced over at me and touched my face. i had never felt more self-conscious yet confident at the same time. he removed his hand from my face and turned to face someone who had stole his attention. breathless and completely, inevitably, going to fall apart with any word he ever said.
