Monsters.

I love how the human mind creates images that we learn to fear,
That it creates things that only leer and jeer.
Ferocious, snarling beasts,
That want you for their feast.
Cruel, ugly demons,
Who's maniac smiles strikes fear within,
The soul of every living being,
Until their heart stops beating.
These fictional projections,
Cannot cause physical devastation.
Nor are they the real monsters,
There are those who torture children at night,
Those who will always win a fight.
Those who get away with horrific acts,
Those who are caught brandishing an axe.
Those who are doused in another's blood,
Those who laugh at a raging flood.
Murderous beings that don't care at all,
As their soul sputtered out long ago.
It sometimes takes a sleuth,
To figure out the truth.
That the  scariest thing yet is that these things with no appeal,
Are the ones who are real.
And those projections in our mind,
Are just a falsehood to hide behind.
