4 - Discovery
Aden woke up bright and early the next day; everything was in check, no bad dreams, perfect sleep, perfect day and the whole entire perfectness of the day all for himself!
He jumped out of bed and hurried through his usual routine. Aden wore thick long jeans, a red flannelette shirt cut off just under the elbows and a pair of leather gloves. He was armed with rope and a drinking bottle and shoes with good grip; today Aden was going hiking!
He skipped through the kitchen, grabbing food and bags for collecting objects hoping to find something new for his shelf; it was about seven am, the perfect time to set out!
Aden rushed over to the barn and quickly fed the horses before dashing back to the house to grab a hat. He rushed through the doorway, nearly bowling Aunt Bertha over, however nearly didn’t save her from dropping the washing everywhere! She began gathering everything up in a huff before turning her glare onto Aden. “Off already!” she exclaimed, but she wasn’t really surprised, “men in my day used to spend their ‘days off’ with their families!” She shoved past him and marched around the back of the house. Shaking his head, Aden grabbed his hat before walking towards the path that wound its way through the trees towards the base of the mountain; any soldier would be impressed by that march!
Aden strode through the surrounding bushland purposefully; it was a 4km walk to the base and another 6km to where he was planning on starting his climb. But I’ll eat lunch first so I can keep up my strength.
A goofy grin spread across Aden’s face, he will be hiking about a K or so away from the waterfall so afterwards he can go for a swim. Aden will be walking around 20km, 10 there and 10 back depending on where he comes out at plus an afternoon of hiking, a swim and a beautiful day! What more could you want?
It was just, perfect!
