As I walked through the woods, my mind was only on one track: to find shelter. I had only been walking a short distance before I had heard a faint sobbing in the distance. I followed the crying and found a little hut. I walked in and found a small girl sitting in the corner. She looked up quickly, I saw sadness and fright clouding in the pools of her light blue eyes.
"Are you one of them?" She asked softly.
I could see why she questioned my appearance, my skin was as pigmented as winter snow and eyes were easily as maroon as red wine.
"I'm not one of them, but may I ask why you're crying?" I questioned her.
"T-they got my brother." She mumbled looking down at her lap. I felt sincere empathy as I sat down beside her, pulling her into my chest as violent sobs abruptly came out if the small girl.
I heard shuffling outside but pushed it aside in my mind. My main focus had become completely wrapped up in the idea of the upset acquaintance I had just met. If it wasn't for the little girl I would've taken action to the front door that had opened enough to be recognised. I didn't want to worry this poor girl right after I had gained knowledge of what had happened to her: the one I now possessed, a sobbing mess in my arms.
"I have to step outside, I shall return. If you need to call me, my name is Tiffany." I apprised her.
She nodded her head in response, the sandy coloured locks on her head moved with a slight sway as I started walking towards the door, I stopped and turned when I heard a small voice.
"Thank you miss, my name is Jean." She hummed in a shaken tone,
I nodded my head.
"That's a beautiful name," I informed her.
She nodded and gave me a small smile. I collectively walked to the door and opened it the rest of the way. There had been nothing there but a slight breeze. I hear a twig break in the distance, I quickly shot my head in the direction it was coming from.
I reach for my silver dagger, decorated in foreign symbols that I can not understand, out of its sheath at my side and wield it in front of me. Ready to take any danger head on. "Who's there?" I called out into the dark pit of the night.
I then hear glass shatter and a piercing scream from inside the hut. I ran in and there was a man about the same age as I, standing before Jean.
"It's okay, I didn't mean to frighten you, I won't hurt you." The man said reassuringly to Jean.
"Not while I'm here, you won't lay a finger upon her head," I say holding the dagger up to his back. He slightly turned his head to me, trying not to turn his back so the pure silver won't touch his sickly pale skin. I see his brilliant blood red eyes staring at me in slight fear, trying not to show it.
"I apologise greatly, is this your little sister?" He cross-examined.
"No, I had only just met her, but don't get me wrong; I'm more than willing to sacrifice my own life for hers. Even if I had just met her." I threatened.
"I'm so sorry, I promise I won't touch her. Wait, are you a vampire as well?" He questioned.
"No, I could never be one of those demonic cold-blooded killers." I harshly spat at him.
"Are you one of them?" I interrogated him, but it was quite obvious that I had already known the answer.
"Y-yes but I don't want to be, I was turned by one. They cornered me, took my blood and injected the venom that turns you humans to vampires." He blundered almost like crying out in an angered mess.
"How should I believe you? How do I know you're not tricking us so you can steal our blood and turn us or maybe kill us? Huh?" I pressured, pushing the dagger into his spin more purely out of frustration.
"Please believe me, how do I show that I'm not lying?" He begged.
I pondered for a moment on what he could possibly do to assist us in this godforsaken war the devil has throw us into, watching his soldiers just take us out one by one for his entertainment. I was then struck with an idea.
"You know what you could do, you can protect us from those insane zombies, I'm getting tired of fighting them all by myself." I requested.
"Of course, I can also look out for other vampires and tell you guys to hide if you need to." He suggested.
"Alright, but if you don't follow through-" I wrap my arms around him and hold the dagger up to where his non-beating heart is.
"-You're done." I threatened. He shook his head violently in agreement. I let him go and he took a moment to recap what had happened.
"Come here Jean." I softly commanded, opening up my arms to welcome her into and embrace. She quickly ran into my arms and I hugged her tightly.
"It's okay, I won't let him hurt you, understand?" I assured her. She nodded her head and I let her go. I looked out the window and I saw the low gleam of the morning sun poking over the horizon.
"We better close the curtains, the sun is starting to come up," I said hurrying to the windows to block the sunlight from getting in.
"Quick Jean, light some candles." I directed.
"Hey Vampy, help me with the curtains, you don't want to burn to death do you?" I sass. He immediately started to close the curtains while Jean began to light matches and setting the flame to candles she could find. Once we're finally done Jean started to yawn and looked a bit drowsy.
"Hey if you're tired you can sleep, I'll stay up and keep an eye out if anything happens." I offer.
She nodded her head and looked around to find some blankets.
"What even is your name?" I asked the vampire standing before me.
"My name is Blake." He informed.
"Oh, well my name is Tiffany. I hope you're not as bad as I think you're going to be." I say unconcerned for his feelings.
