~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was feeling nervous when it was nearing my turn to skate. I turned away from Victor but what I heard made me stop.
"If you mess up this free skate and miss the podium, I'll take responsibility by resigning as your coach."
Silence. It was silent for a couple of seconds. I tried to keep the tears in but I couldn't.
"Why would you say something like that like you're trying to test me?"
I heard Victor say sorry but he probably didn't mean it.
" I'm used to being blamed for my own failures! But this time, I'm anxious because my mistakes would reflect on you, too! I've been wondering if you secretly want to quit!"
"Of course I don't"
Liar.
"Just have more faith than I do  that I'll win! You don't have to say anything. Just stand by me!"
Pathetic.
I remember that day clearly it was the day I lost him, and I would never get him back.
He said he wasn't serious. He said he didn't want to quit.
Liar.
I had just finished my free skate and was looking straight at him. When I smiled at him he looked away.
"Huh?"
I saw him shaking his head as he walked away from the rink. I walked to the entrance of the rink but no one was there to greet me.
I remember feeling confused, was he mad that I changed the last jump?
I sat down next to him waiting for my results. 4th. 1 point away from getting 3rd.
Disappointment.
Unwanted.
Victor stayed true to his word. He resigned as my coach and moved back to Russia.
He believed in me and I let him down.
Sorry Victor, I failed you.
