Chapter 8.
Chloe's POV
November 28th, 1993I woke up with adrenaline surging through my body. I have no idea why I was so excited for the Quidditch match of Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff, but I guess it was because Harry had been training so hard and his excitement was rubbing off on me.
I shoved my breakfast down my throat so fast that Hermione was concerned for my well-being. Noah was in a sour mood and left as soon as he grabbed a stack of 4 pancakes.
His detention with Snape was today and he was cleaning the infirmary without any magic. "Destroy all the confidence that Hufflepuff ever had in their team for me, alright?" Was the only 'positive' thing that came out of Noah's mouth. Hermione told him he was overreacting and it was simply just a Quidditch game. I think it must have slipped Hermione's overloaded mind that there are people who like quidditch, there are people who love Quidditch and then there's my brother.
When we reached the Quidditch pitch, it was absolutely pouring, the seats and students all completely drenched. I could barely hear Lee Jordan's commentary, not to mention the players. All I could see was the shivering huddle of students in their house sections. The Hufflepuff fans were are dressed in bright canary-coloured robes, with signs that had its ink dripping down from the rain, as though it were designed for a Halloween font. The whole body of Slytherin students was chanting, supporting Hufflepuff of course, with the slight exception of a few clueless first years who were still enchanted by the fact that they were in the same 100 meters as the famous Harry Potter. Ravenclaw fans were half Hufflepuff supporters, half Gryffindor, and I noticed Brianne wearing a large hat with a Badger on it next to Luna who wore a lion one. Sometimes I am embarrassed to be related to her I have to admit.
When Oliver Wood, Gryffindors captain called a timeout, Hermione quickly bolted from the stands, saying she needed to help Harry and his eyesight.
"I wonder what she's going to do now" Ron yelled over the voice-drowning rain, still partly mad at her for Crookshanks evil plot to kill his precious Scabbers.
I shrugged, "you never know what tricks she has hidden in that brilliant mind of hers!" I yelled back, causing Ron to wince and scooch away from me.
Dean and Seamus were above me, talking about how it's almost impossible for any human seeker to be able to find the snitch in this weather condition.
"Harry's never failed to catch a snitch, I have complete faith! Plus he's never lost a game in his life, I doubt the first one will be to Hufflepuff" I turned to them, speaking confidently about my friend.
Dean shrugged, "knock on wood!" He said, knocking on the bench he was seated on.
"I think she's right, Gryffindors got this!" Seamus said, turning a little red as I looked at him. Maybe Hermione and Ron were right about his crush on me but I could still hope they weren't, right?
The match continued on and it was actually quite boring because I was literally watching fog and rain, I almost envied Noah. Minutes after, Ron elbowed me violently in the side. "What in Merlin's name is wrong with y-" Ron pointed up into the sky where hundreds of dementors enveloped the frosty sky.
"What are they doing here?" I gasped. Hermione screamed "HARRY!" We all jumped to our feet watching helplessly as our best friend fell 50 feet to the ground.<><><><><><><><><><><><><>
We all trudged into the infirmary, Noah yelling at us like an old nanny, about us covering the place with mud, waving his feather-duster at us. That is until he saw Harry.
The whole Gryffindor team came along, except for Oliver who we assumed was trying to drown himself in the showers after their horrible loss against Hufflepuff.
Dean shouldn't have knocked on wood.
Cedric, the captain of the Hufflepuff team, being a genuinely good guy tried to call for a rematch but they won fair and square. Once Harry awoke, he was devastated, not only because of his first loss and him being the cause of it but because of his beloved Nimbus 2000 crashing into the Whomping Willow. We tried to comfort him but nothing we could say would help him.
