I sat on the plain blue bus seat, waiting for my friend Annie. At the stop before this, I had climbed onto the bus, stumbling on the stairs, then sat on this seat, preparing myself for another day of boredom. Pulling my timetable out of my back pocket, I gave a small groan; I could not ask for worse lessons! Science, maths, PE, maths and religious studies. What fun.

It was one more stop until Annie's, she got on at the last stop before school, which gave us the littlest possible time together before registration, and, consequently, very little time to copy, I mean, get help on my maths.

Staring out the window- I preferred not to watch all the popular cool girls dancing and all the boys yelling at each other- I watched tree after tree whizz by. As it was the middle of Autumn, they were all entirely bare, and looked like long gnarled hands. Then, to my surprise, I spotted a four birds all standing in a row on one of the trees. I tried to turn around to get a better look, but they were already out of sight.

It was strange seeing four birds when the other trees were so bare, but I quickly moved on from it, as I was thinking about the exciting lessons that awaited me.

We soon arrived at Annie's stop; I spotted her ginger hair as she walked down the aisle. When she saw me, her hazel eyes lit up and her freckly face broke into a smile.

"Hey Lauren," she said, sitting on the seat next to me.

"Hi Annie," I said, grinning as I replied.

"You need any help with your maths homework?"

"Wait... Maths homework?" I panicked, "I thought we only had science!"

She sighed, "Guess you'd better copy mine then." She sniggered slightly.

"Hey!" I exclaimed. "Are you laughing at me?"

"Yep," she laughed properly. "I had you fooled there, didn't I? The look on your face was amazing!"

It was a very normal school day, Annie tricking me and boring lessons! I'd just got off the bus and was walking home when I noticed the same four birds I had seen that morning. This time I was able to get a better look. I paused underneath them, staying as quiet as I could, and watched them as they tweeted.

They all had the same bright eyes, but different feathers. One was a grey-blue colour and looked quite sleek; one was greenish-brown, and its feathers seemed very untidy; one was very fluffy and had grey feathers, sort of like a cloud; the last was a deep blood red that faded into a sunny yellow, and, if I saw correct, which I seriously doubt, it seemed to be giving off clouds of smoke... I doubt I remembered that right though.

Anyway, I soon arrived home, where I was greeted by my very very very excited (if you couldn't tell, that was sarcasm) little sister, Rosabel. She was so excited, she stayed in her room and completely ignored the fact that I had returned.

We had dinner, I did my homework, then I went to bed and fell asleep almost instantly.

I looked around me, all I could see were curved wooden planks making the room I was in. Above me, I saw one porthole window with a greenish blue view out of it. Suddenly, I heard a voice behind me. I swung round, searching for the source of the noise.

I say searching, it was obvious: for people, two girls and two boys, were standing there. The first girl had long, wavy, deep red hair and deep brown eyes with flecks of gold and red, almost like fire. She was wearing a grey top with a black leather jacket on top and black jeans.
