Selena woke up the next morning and it took her a few moments to remember where she was and then it all felt like some strange dream. She turned over to find that Justin was no longer at her side and then she sat up to think about what happened next. She let out a little giggle. What was she doing? Her bargain with the billionaire seemed crazy, but she was loving every second of the madness. Hadn't she spent years looking for something that got her heart beating? Justin certainly did that. Not only was he spectacularly handsome, but he was ambitious, confident and the sort of man who took what he wanted. He was such a long way off from her dull exes who could barely make a decision over which TV channel to watch. He was a man with the world at his feet and that was a very exciting prospect.
The young woman drew herself out of bed to find that her clothes had been washed and laid out for her on a chair by the door to the ensuite. On top of them was a little wash bag full of make-up, soaps, a toothbrush, hairbrush, shower gel and shampoo. Selena took the bag into the ensuite and had a long, luxurious shower in a state-of-the-art shower. Then she spent a long time fixing her hair at the mirror and applying fresh make-up until she could look in the mirror and smile. Finally, she ventured downstairs. As soon as the butler, Alexander, saw her, he smiled brightly and invited her to breakfast.
"We can prepare anything you wish, Madam," he said brightly. "What are you hungry for this morning?"
"Oh, I really don't know..." Selena blushed. "I don't want to be a bother."
"It's no bother at all, Madam," Alexander said, but he smiled understandingly. "Shall I just instruct our cook to prepare something simple?"
"Yes, thank you."
"My pleasure."
Alexander disappeared into the kitchen and left Selena sitting dazed in the dining room.
When he returned with toast, fruit, cereal, pastries and orange juice, Selena began to pick at the breakfast, but started to wonder where Justin had gone. At around 11am he strode in with a newspaper under his arm and a stern expression on his face, which turned into a pleased smile when he saw her sitting there. He pulled out a chair beside her and sat down.
"Forgive me for leaving you on your own," he said apologetically. "I am here on business, after all, but I've cleared my schedule this afternoon. We can do anything that you like."
"Like what?"
"You're the local. What's fun around here?"
Selena let out a little laugh. "I don't think we'd have the same idea of fun."
"What? You think I'm a snob?" he challenged playfully.
"I think you've got a bigger budget than I do. Unless you want to skip stones at the lake and eat ice cream from the van."
"I can think of nothing better."
Selena began to laugh again, but soon found he wasn't teasing when he changed into his "casual" clothes and held out his hand to her. Selena went with him to a different car from the one she'd scratched up and this time with a chauffeur. Justin sat very close to her in the backseat of the car and looked out the window with interest as they drove, but Selena couldn't help but smile when his hand wandered to rest upon her knee. They arrived at the big lake, which looked more like an ocean, and found that it was pretty isolated as it was a windy, slightly overcast day. Justin was undeterred and pulled her from the car. They began to walk around the shore of the lake as Justin held her hand.
