TYPHONS RETURN

Thousands of years ago a creature unknown to man rose from the ground. He rose up to the skies and had snakes coming from his hands instead of fingers. He had a human head and the bottom half of his body was covered in vipers. The mighty gods themselves feared him. Zeus stepped up and faced of the mighty creature with all his power but the creature ripped away his sinews, Zeus's source of power. Hermes managed to retrieve Zeus's sinews and Zeus became more powerful. Once again Zeus fought and won. Zeus trapped him under Mount Etna where he was imprisoned for life.

Until now...

"Help, help. Somebody help me." The shouts came from somewhere out in the street. Athena climbed to her feet and ran out of the stables. She made her way down the street until she found the man. He was an old man, he knelt in the centre of the town square beneath the fountain. He had blood running down the side of his face. His hands were shaking and he held a small blade in his right hand he wore rags and he was covered with dirt and dry blood. His eyes were filled with pain and fire. Athena knelt down beside him and took the blade from his hand. She lifted his face until he looked into her eyes. Tears fell down his face and he reached out and placed his hand on the side of her face.

"They're monsters. They killed everyone. I was the only one who survived." He stumbled over his words and took his hand away from her face. She placed her hands on either side of his face and leant in close to his ear.

"What were they like?" She asked him. He stayed quiet for a moment and she took her hands away from his face and leant back. She got to her feet and turned around and started walking away.

"Snakes. They looked like snakes." She stopped in her tracks and turned around.

"What did you say?"

"They looked like snakes. They had our heads but the rest of them were snake. Their fingers, their legs. It was like they were cursed." She walked forward and took hold of his hand and pulled him to his feet.

"You need to come with me." She led him through the streets of the town and out of the city walls. They followed a small path out into the woods that were hidden by overgrown bushes and thorns. The thorns stabbed at her bare feet, but she ignored them. She had faced worse things.

"Where are we going?" The old man asked her.

"I think I know what you are talking about. Someone once told me that creatures like you have described were a warning. Something bigger was coming. I need to be sure that you have seen what I think you have." She led him further down the path until she came in front of a giant boulder. She dropped the man's hand and walked up to the boulder. She placed both her hands on the surface of the boulder and closed her eyes. She stayed there for a moment then stepped back. For a moment nothing happened and then there was a loud crack. The middle of the rock slid up and the two side pieces slid down into the ground. The back piece slid into three directions and opened up into a dark cave. Athena turned around and grabbed hold of the old man's hand and pulled him through the entrance as the rock began to slide back into place. When the rock was back in place Athena pushed a small block in the side of the cave and a bright light lit up the cave. She walked forwards into the cave. It was full of chests and weapons, but the thing she was here for was the walls. They were covered in drawings that the ancient Greeks had created. She focused in on one drawing on the wall, there was a giant monster that stood over everyone else. It had minions that it sent out to destroy nearby villages. They were smaller versions of the beast itself. The picture showed a young God using its powers to defeat the beast. The God itself could not defeat the creature, but the God had gathered all the other Gods including the mighty Zeus to help defeat the creature. It did not show who won the battle but that either side was as powerful. Without turning around Athena began to speak.
