Author's Note: Above is a map of Grand Gaia in the game. As a reminder, Ceyall is located in Agni.

The town of Ceyall was a small establishment if you compared it to cities. A population of little more than two thousand kept it running, but like most settlements located in monster-infested territory, it was surrounded by high stone walls patrolled by guards (and sometimes a division of knights from the Order of Agni, a sub-division of the Agni Imperial Army) taking day and night shifts. Inside the walls are rows of stone buildings lined up along streets, some nearly as old as a century since the day Ceyall was founded, a vast marketplace, a Town Square, separate districts for different roles—all aspects that make up an average town in Grand Gaia. Well, at least in a domain as great as the Agni Empire.
Once his shift was over, Fray went out in his trademarked, dark green, unbuttoned jacket in place of the apron. The rather oversized jacket lacked certain things for its hood, but maybe that was for the best.
He also carried the same gray messenger bag he had in his previous timeline, but other than that his equipment had changed drastically.
The only weapon he had at his side was a cruciform sword with a narrow steel blade. It was made to fit him, but not close to the kind you would bring along for a long, nighttime, quiet mission. His alchemical bombs were not as varied, much less powerful, as they used to be, and he had one hidden iron dagger.
If the Fray from this timeline was more or less the same in terms of personality, then why this lack of cautiousness? Fray debated internally. Was this just being cheap? Was it from contentment? A lack of need for security? Not that it seriously matters much to me. I could always find ways to replace my missing equipment.
Still, my current body conditioning is not satisfactory. Was the other Fray more of a sloth than I am? All these memories will take time to sort... I will have to deal with it somehow...
Fray was walking back to his family's modest cottage in the evening, where he apparently lived with this timeline's Korell, Bromwell, Terena and his parents. The reasons for them being here, except for Terena and his parents, were almost the same as those in the original timeline.
Korell and Bromwell Rhus are little sister and older brother respectively in their family, the former being seven years old and the latter, eleven. Both were orphans ever since their parents had been killed in a random monster attack on Ceyall, resulting in them inheriting their modest family home and the Colsea family taking responsibility for them. Fray's parents were friends and neighbors of the Rhuses, and being good people, they wanted to help.
Terena Sil had a much less complicated past for her stay here. The Sils were one of several families of Fray's distant cousins, all of whom have settled in Agni. It seemed that there were less than half of the number of relatives here than in his original timeline.
Terena was an only child like Fray however. Fray's and her parents were archaeologists and dungeon divers working for an organization dedicated to history in Agni, which resulted in them becoming independent people at a young age whenever their parents went on long expeditions, digging up mysterious ruins, and whatever diggers of the ancients do.
Today was one of those days where Fray was in charge of the house. Being sixteen (he was seventeen in the previous universe), he was the oldest of them all, and Terena being fourteen, making her the second oldest. His and Terena's parents were at the capital helping a friend of theirs examine some relics from an old civilization, later planning on exploring the ruins the relics came from. It was clear they will be gone for some time.
