Waiting

Hayley's sitting down with her head up in the clouds. Glancing around, she observes her surroundings as she waits. Two bikers pass by as well as a few cars. The leaves on tree, next to the bench she's sitting on, rustle in the wind. Her eyes close as her head tilts back and she indulges in the sound of the birds chirping. Her fingers touch the rough coarse surface of the wooden bench.

Just a couple more minutes until 1, she should be here soon.

Fiddling with her hands, her thumb slides over her other fingers. Caressing her calloused palm, she traces the slight indents, Hearing footsteps, she looks up in anticipation, but her eyes dim as she looks down again. Pulling out her phone, she turns it on to check the time. She reads 1:48 and sighs as she gets up. Pulling her left elbow with her right hand behind her head, she stretches for a bit as her back straightens. She relaxes her muscles and proceeds to walk around the block. Noting the green sign that said Kingsley St, she wonders what she should do.

She should have been here by now. Did something happen to her? Or did she stand me up? Wait, why would she? Wait, wait, wait, maybe she doesn't like me. Maybe she actually hates me now! Hold up, don't think so negatively. I'm sure she has a good reason for being late. I should just wait a little longer. Actually, I'm kind of hungry, where should I go? Suddenly her shoulders tense as she feels a hand touch her arm. She turns around and sees Blake. The popular girl Blake, the one that is in that clique, the one whose eyes seemed to lure people in. Simply put, the pretty girl.

Hayley's eyes widen as she slightly gasps inwards and Blake only smiles with the same look of amusement as always.
