How it ends

"I wanted to say bye before heading out" I said as he stood there giving me the silent treatment. "Look I don't understand why you're so mad at me. Whatever I did I'm sorry." Still nothing but the silent treatment. "I'll see you around." I said as I made my way back to the door.

"Paige wait." He said. Hearing his voice for the first time in three years was amazing. I stopped in my track and turned around to face him.

"Oh he has a voice. He's a real boy." I said with a small laugh.

"Ha ha very funny." He deadpanned. "What brings you to Edge Haven?"

"You."

"Me? What are you talking about Paige?"

"Ever since I moved you been treating me like a stranger on the street. I call you don't answer. I text you don't respond. The group has been to see me at least six times and not once did you ever come. What did I ever do to you?"

"Are you really asking me that?" He asked.

"Actually I am."

"You fucking left. I told you I loved you and you left. Not in one of those voice mails, e-mails, or text did you say it back. I put our friendship and my heart on the line and what you do. You fucking leave. Did you think we could be friends after all that?" He asked while looking at me with this perplex look on his face as if I could read his mind.

"I had no choice but to leave. If you forgot I was attacked. My parents decided I had to go. What do you want me to do?"

"I wanted you to stay. I wanted you to feel the same way I did and no I haven't forgotten. Did you forget who was at your bedside day and night. I was the first face you saw when you woke up. You want to know something fucked up? After three years, I'm still in fucking love with you. How pathetic is that?"

Before I knew what was coming out of my mouth I spoke the words I never thought I would get the chance to say.

"I love you too, Nathan. I always have."

Nathan looked at me in a way I never seen before. The next thing I knew Nathan's lips were on mine. It felt different but a good different. The rest of the night we spent together in ways we had never done before. If this was just for one night, it was well worth it.
