Chapter 2
"Tada!" Joe smiled, flicking on the lights to the med center. My jaw dropped and I just stared in amazement at what the med center had to offer. It had everything from bands, to weights, to stretching tables, to ellipticals, to a batting cage, and a large turf area.
"Wow!" I gasped, looking around. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled, shaking my head. "This is-"
"Amazing, I know!" He laughed. "I just told the starting innies to come to the med center and Bryant said they're on their way!" He sighed and I nodded, fixing my blue Nike Chicago Cubs long sleeve shirt. I also had on cropped black Nike leggings and custom white Nike Roshe Runs that had the Chicago logo printed on the sided of each shoe. "You nervous?" Joe smirked and I nodded slightly, looking over at him.
"It's my first time doing an evaluation by myself!" I sighed, crossing my arms.
"I have confidence in you!" He smiled and I nodded.
"Thanks!" I laughed slightly before tying my long, straight, honey brown hair up into a high ponytail. When I stood up, the men started walking in, all studying me. They each looked me up and down, muttering things among each other.
"Where do you want them?" Joe sighed, starting to walk over to the group of 8 baseball stars.
"On the turf!" I smiled, following him over to the group of athletes.
"Alright, we have someone very special here to evaluate you guys. What do you want them to call you?" He looked back at me and I shook my head.
"I don't know!" I laughed, crossing my arms as I stood slightly behind Joe.
"This is RJ, she's a good friend of mine. Her dad and I are pretty close! You 8 men and I, are going to listen to RJ with the utmost respect. We'll do as she says and be respectful! We're not just doing these evaluations to waste your time, but we're doing because Theo wants you to!" He smiled and I nodded. "Take it away!" He smirked, walking over to the men, standing next to a tall, built young man.
"Um, my name is Ryne, you can call me RJ or Ryne, or Rye, or if you come up with something else, that's cool! I'll pretty much respond to anything like Ryne, RJ, Rye, Doc, um, I'll ever respond to Sandy, Andy, Berg, and pretty much whatever else you can think of!" I smiled, and the men all nodded. "I'm a recent graduate from Harvard where I was top of my class, valedictorian, and I have my MD. I grew up in between Chicago, Peoria, Tennessee, Arizona, and then I eventually landing in Massachusetts for college. My history with baseball is pretty crazy, I can tell you that you're throwing a ball wrong with my eyes closed just basing it off the sound in the glove. My father is a crazy Cubs fan so I grew up having to root for a never winning team! I'm ready to finally see you guys do something! Last year you won your division, lost in the league. You guys look ready just from a basic viewing, I guess, but this year, I'd like to see you guys do something. No offense!" I gulped and the men laughed slightly. "My father has been dying to see you guys win a World Series, and he will disown me if I don't push you guys hard enough. My job is to make sure you're all healthy enough to win and that your bio mechanics are sound! My job isn't complete until you come back with a really big ring!" I smiled and everyone clapped. "So, circle up, stretch out a bit and then I'm going to have you guys throw a tennis ball against the wall. Super difficult, I know!" I laughed and everyone smile as they circled up in the middle of the turf.
