Tzuyu came home late tonight from another after party. Again.
It was obvious she wasn't expecting me to be up, from how quiet her footsteps were, and how she didn't even bother to look in the living room as she crept through the house. I sat in total darkness, waiting for her to come back home, hoping she wouldn't let me down and would come back at the time she told me, by 9. She's over due by five hours.
I cleared my throat loudly, and turned on the lamp beside the couch I sat in. She jumped and quickly looked at me, her eyes the size of saucers.
"Sana? I thought you were asleep?"
"You thought wrong," I replied as I crossed my arms over my silk robe I wore to cover myself.
Tzuyu walked slowly in the room, dressed in a black cocktail dress. Around her neck were pearls, which were on her ears as well. Her hair was curled, but slightly frizzed from partying so long. She looks so beautiful, even with a worried look on her face in the light of the lamp.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know--"
"You could've called me," I bitterly spat out.
"I'm sorry, Sana--"
"You never call me when you're out late. Never! Don't you know how that makes me feel? I know you have a job and everything, but sheesh! Do I ever cross your mind anymore?"
I was happy Tzuyu was a model, following her dream, I really was. Ever since I met her, she's been talking about getting a contract to an agency to follow her dream. I've supported her every step of the way, but it didn't mean I don't feel insecure.
When we're out in public, guys stare at her all the time, as if I wasn't right beside her. True, the public doesn't know about us dating, but still. That's rude of them to stare at her like she's meat. And the fact that she doesn't tell them off or anything makes me feel even worse. What if she actually loves the attention she gets from guys? Or worse, she'd leave me for one of them? Tzuyu could get any guy she wanted to, so she could easily pick and choose who she wanted. I still wondered how she ended up with me.
Tzuyu hesitated, fumbling with her heels that she took off and was holding. "I'm really sorry," she mumbled.
When she didn't continue with an explanation, I sighed, got up, and walked past her and out the room. After three years of being together, she didn't know what to say to me? After three long, tough years she couldn't come up with a reasonable excuse and promise not to do it again? Reassure me that she'll make up for it?
I wouldn't even look at her when she came in the room later on that night after showering. I was still awake, fuming, facing the other way. It hurt me even more when she didn't even try talking to me. I knew she knew I was awake. She could tell when I was asleep or awake.
So the next morning, I didn't bother waking Tzuyu up with breakfast. Instead, I just showered, got dressed for the day, and went to my friend, Jihyo's house to talk to her about Tzuyu.
Because that Tzuyu back there was not my Tzuyu.
