RainbowDash is the only main character whose cutie mark is a single symbol. Apple Jack, Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie all have cutie marks with three symbols, and Twilight Sparkle's cutie mark consists of one large symbol and five smaller ones.
All ponies except Twilight Sparkle have one or three symbols for their cutie mark so fans are curious as to whether not hers is special.
