Small flakes of snow fell gently from the gray clouds, covering the sun. They landed softly on my outstretched hands. I looked around at the frozen garden.

The once blooming lavender bush stood hunched over and covered in snow. All that remained of the flowers were a clump of weeds. An inch of snow covered the ground, revealing only the tips of the strands of grass.

A chilling breeze whirled around me, biting at every particle of exposed skin. The breeze whistled in my ears and made me shiver. Everything out here was frozen and covered in snow. Winter was here and everyone knew it.

The smell of leaves and apples were gone. Chased away by the winter wind. Dead leaves were slightly visible under a small layer of snow. Their color was no longer a brilliant ruby red or fire orange, but a dull brown.

Frost created intricate patterns on the leaf I was looking at. The trees no longer danced in the wind flowingly, but they moved very little in a stiff sort of way. I watch from inside as winter arrives with a bang.
