Sitting alone in the room again, Aeldra's mind was whirling in panic and shock. His arm still throbbed in pain as he ran his fingers over the raw scars.

VYLUM was written in large, bold letters reaching from his wrist to his elbow. Aeldra didn't realize it till now, but he was shaking despite not feeling cold at all. His heart beat was beating faster and faster by the minute as Aeldra's head wrapped around the situation. Here he was, sitting locked up in the hands of Allister Vylum, no clue where the hell he was or what he'd do next.

A sob was building up in his throat as he pulled his knees to his chest. Clenching his teeth, Aeldra tried to focus on anything to ease the rising panic.

Blood. Dried blood stained his shirt and had gotten on his pants as well. He stood up and walked to the bathroom and started a shower. Making sure the door was locked, Aeldra welcomed the warm water greatly.
---
Afterwards, Aeldra had cleaned up his shirt as best as possible, but it was still grossly stained. The faded red stain covered the cuff and a little on his chest. At least it didn't show up on his pants as much.

Walking out of the bathroom, the first thing Aeldra noticed was a pair of freshly folded clothes on the bed. He raised an eyebrow as he lifted up the shirt.

It was made of fine silk and was semi-transparent. Gold lace ornamented the collar and wound its way around the short sleeves. He cast a glance at the pants and saw they were simple black shorts.

Aeldra growled and crumpled the shirt into a ball. Throwing the shirt and pants onto the ground, he turned away and crossed his arms. By no means in heaven was Aeldra going to wear THAT. He wouldn't give Allister that sort of satisfaction.

Suddenly the door creaked open and Aeldra turned to see two big figures standing in the doorway. A man and a woman, both gruff in stature and disinterested looks in there eyes.

"Master Vylum is having you accompany him for dinner." The woman spoke and looked at her nails. Aeldra scowled at them with seething anger. Did these idiots even know what Allister did to others? Maybe they did and just turned a blind eye as long as they received their paycheck. It disgusted him.

"I'm not hungry."

"Well then you can sit there and watch him eat." The man now took his turn to speak, stepping forward and dragging Aeldra out the door. He started to protest, but the woman stuck a knife behind his back before he could aim a blow on the larger bloke.

And so the two oafs pushed him out of his room and through the winding halls. Luckily, however, they passed a window and Aeldra was given a quick chance at getting his bearings. They were still in the town Aljar had docked to, and in the distance Aeldra saw the large sails of the ship at dock. He snarled, knowing Aljar's pompous ass was still in charge of the damn thing.

As quick as he saw the view, it was gone. Aeldra was forced forward once more and led to the dining hall. Once inside, the man and woman left Aeldra alone to stare at the grand room around him. Before he had anytime to take it in, Aeldra grimaced at the sound of Allister's voice calling him to sit with him at the table. Aeldra stood still, finding Allister and glaring at him with no words to offer to the prick.

"Ah, even pissed off you look like an angel. And even in those..." Allister looked him up and down. "Filthy rags. Didn't you see what I had picked out for you?"

"I did." Aeldra responded flatly. A silence fell over the two of them as he still refused to sit.

"Look, it's your favorite meal. Come, sit with me, Aeldra," Allister waved his hand towards the dinner laid out. Aeldra's eyes gazed over the food and sneered. Roasted ham and jugs full of ale, along with a few modest fruit baskets. Not fancy in the slightest like Allister would want, but it was Aeldra's favorite. The fact Allister remembered that made him even more sour.

"Or, how about you stand there looking pretty and just listen to me. Sounds like a deal, hm?" Aeldra turned away and didn't answer, but Allister just chuckled behind him.

"Oh, where do I begin? It has only been three years of my immortal life yet they were the worst years yet. Do you know what it's like to have the thing you hold most dear taken away from you in an instant? It's hell, Aeldra. And as a man who prided himself as someone who cares only for himself I hate the fact that I depend so greatly on you," Aeldra furrowed his eyebrows and flicked his tail sharply, something he didn't usually do.

"What? Are you declaring you love me or some shit?" He hissed. Allister laughed.

"I don't love you, I feel love for nothing. But I need you by my side, I've realized that after having you taken from me," his voice dropped for a moment as neither of the two said a word.

Aeldra flicked an ear as he snarled.

"So what? You think you can just say that you missed me and that'll make me forgive you for all the shit you did to me?" He snapped and turned around, but jumped back to see that Allister was right in front of him. Damn it, Aeldra hadn't even heard him get up.

"I expect you to understand that against me, you're nothing. But together, we are the lone surviving examples of our planet. Don't you get it Aeldra? You are one of the only things in this wretched existence that gives me a purpose anymore," Allister grabbed Aeldra by his shoulders and gripped them hard. "We are pure, while everyone else is scum! I can give you everything: money, studies, supplies, safety-"

With a snap Aeldra brought his claws down Allister's face with a shout.

"Stay off of me! 'Safety'? You just scarred me with a scalding knife, you call that SAFETY?" He had pushed himself well away from Allister now to make sure there was enough distance, swearing to himself that he'd never take his eyes of Allister again. Meanwhile, Allister was touching the side of his face tenderly as golden ichor trickled through his fingers.

Of course, the wound would heal in a matter of seconds, but Aeldra only wanted to let Allister know he wasn't going to stand by and let him play with like some sort of pet.

"Aeldra," Allister's voice showed no anger, yet it had lost its usual flair of arrogance. "Why don't you head back to your room?"

Finally, something Aeldra would gladly do.
_______

As the next week passed, Aeldra stayed in his 'room' most of the time. Occasionally Allister would stop by and talk with him during breakfast, but Aeldra only listened in bitterness while Allister drawled on with whatever bullshit that spewed from his mouth. During meals Aeldra had first started to not want to drink anything given to him, remembering the last time he accepted a drink from Allister had led to three years of being drugged. In the end Aeldra resorted to drinking tap water instead.

In his spare time, Aeldra made use of being all alone to work on the exercises Fauna had instructed him to do. Not only was it a stress reliever but it gave him a small sliver of hope that he could actually fight his way out.

Although as the week came to an end, Allister walked in on Aeldra in the middle of his workout routine. Thinking he would be alone for hours, Aeldra had allowed himself to wear the outfit Allister had given him. It made him disgusted but made working out much easier. When Allister opened the door, Aeldra jumped and cursed, turning to see Allister standing with his hands on his hips.

"Well this is quite a nice surprise," he whistled, walking over to the bed in the room. Before Aeldra could protest against what he saw Allister was doing, Allister snatched up the dirty folded clothes and held them away from Aeldra.

"Won't be needing these anymore, hm?" Allister grinned and looked Aeldra up and down.

Aeldra stood rigid and angry, glaring at the man who held his original clothes.

"I knew something was off about you. How long have you been working out? The 'toned' look isn't really one to suite you, I always thought," Allister stepped forward and grabbed Aeldra's face, causing him to grip at Allister's arms in resistance. "And is that stubble? You're looking too gruff, you should clean up when we head out."

At this, Aeldra stopped and glared up at the man who still caressed his face.

"Who's heading where?" He asked, pushing himself away. Allister chuckled and grinned, making Aeldra scowl.

"I've got a ship just for you and me. We leave at dawn."

God damnit.
