A/N: Okay, I decided to put a prologue in here for y’all just as a chew toy! ;-D Here it is!!
Prologue
I sat there, anxiously, as the red-headed lady in the purple blouse slowly walked up to the stands. It seemed like a year as she made her way to it. I was nervous. I hated to admit it, but it didn't look promising. I looked around the room filled with people, their eyes all glewed expectedly at that one lady, ready to hang onto her every word. I spared a quick glance at my mom who had already started crying silently. Did she really have no hope for me? Finally, the lady got to the stands. Everyone seemed to be holding their breath. I started counting my last seconds of freedom.
One.
Two.
Three.
The woman cleared her throat. “We, the jury, find the defendant, here by, guilty of multiple counts of murder, charged to full life in prison,” she finished the sentence that most of the nation was debating about. The judge nodded and people began to stand up. It was over that quickly.
The words hit me like needles. They had to be joking right? A guard grabbed my roughly by the arm and began pulling me towards the door. A few people I passed gave me encouraging looks, but most of them scouled as if I was a criminal. But I wasn't. I looked over my shoulder to my mom. She was weeping now, but hadn't moved from her spot on the bench.
This was it. For the thousandth time her words replayed in my head, and I fully realized what that lady in the purple blouse had said. She just changed my life with a simple sentence.
I was going to jail for the rest of my life for crimes I didn’t commit. My nightmare had just become a reality.
