NOW
"Good night, sweetie."
"Night, mommy."
I kiss my daughter's forehead, and stood up, heading out of her room. I close the lights, but before I can step out completely, my daughter stops me.
"Mommy?"
"Yes, darling?"
"Don't you miss daddy?"
I linger by her doorway, and stared sadly at my daughter. Of course, I do, I thought. I miss Nishinoya everyday. He was, and always will be, the love of my life. I miss him so much, that it could disrupt my daily life from the grief of it all, but I knew, I had to be strong. For our daughter, who looks so much like her father.
"Sleep well, okay?" I said.
I turn away and close the door behind me. I walk quickly away from her bedroom, and into my own room. I shut it close behind me, and slid down to the floor. I sat in the dark, and images of him flashed through my mind vividly. I could almost hear him. He was boisterous like that. I can hear him laughing loudly, joking around with his friends, or cheering them on in a volleyball game. I can feel him right behind me, like he'd always promised. He was unforgettable.
Oh, Noya, why? I pray to him.
THEN
Three big girls surround me, ready to beat me up into a pulp. I drop my bag beside me, and I widen my stance into a defensive one. I put my hands up into a fist, anticipating any move they might make against me.
"C'mon, now, you may regret this," I said, stepping back a little. The three girls advances on me meanly, but I was ready for them.
"OII!!" I hear someone yell.
Suddenly, a boy appeared in front of me, ready to fend off these girls by himself. I look at the boy and worried for his safety. I grab the boy by his arm and stepped in front of him. A girl makes a move towards me, her arm swinging to my face. I duck the first punch, pulling the boy along with me.
"Are you crazy?!" I shouted at the boy. His beautiful brown eyes smiled at me.
I push him aside, putting my fists in front of me. Another girl swings at me, and this time, I catch her fist and used her momentum to knock her off balance. I kick her, ready for the other two. They both charge at me, but I jumped, kicking them on both of their sides. They stagger, and I used this opportunity to grab the boy and run.
"Wait, my stuff!" He yells, but I ignore him. Doesn't safety come first?
"Are you stupid?!" We turn to a small alley, and continued running. "Where's your mother?"
He pulls me into him, planting his feet to the ground solidly. I let out a surprised yelped. This kid is strong.
"Excuse me? I'm in my second year of high school!" The kid yelled.
Now that I was uncomfortably close to his face, I notice that he was at least an inch taller than me. I look at the stupid blond streak on his spiky brown hair and frowned.
"You are?" I ask, a little confused.
He seems to get fired up with every moment he spends looking at me. "Yes!"
I back off, trying to stifle a laugh.
"What?! I was just trying to help you! A thank you would be nice!"
My mouth opened on its own to let out a laugh. "Why would I thank you?"
He puts his hands on his waist, and proudly proclaimed, "Because from now on, I will be right behind you!"

Right Behind You (Daddy!Nishinoya X Mommy!Reader)
FanfictionThe result of my obsession with anime and procrastination. (So I wrote this when I was so confused at Noya's name...I thought Nishinoya is his first name, when it was Yuu...it both sounded like first names. Anyways, enjoy!) Warning: character death...
