The scream broke Angel's silence and her body reacted to it reflexively. Moving instantly toward the sound, she'd killed before her brain caught up and realised the zombie was dead. Angel watched as Katelyn stared at her numbly from the floor, only scrambling back quickly when Angel put out her hand to help her up.

'I'm not going to hurt you, you know,' she smiled gently, then sighed and put her hand down as Katelyn still made no move to take it.

'What are you doing here? There should be no-one around but them by now.'

Katelyn started at that and looked at her sharply, 'I don't know what you mean.'

Angel sighed again and said, 'It's not really as important as getting out of here right now, we can talk later.'

At the door, she turned back, 'I'm afraid you're just going to have to trust me. My name is Angel by the way.'

She stopped again as Katelyn spoke, 'I can't leave now. First, I need to find Jane. Jane Doe.'

Her eyes narrowing, Angel asked sharply, 'Why?'

Katelyn had a faraway look in her eyes when she answered, 'I don't know exactly. I just think she might have answers about what's happening here. And it was her whom my Fiancé, Nick came to see before all hell broke loose, and then he disappeared.'

'Ah.' Angel said thoughtfully, 'The doctor.'

Katelyn's eyes brightened as she asked quickly, 'Yes, do you know where he is?'

'He called me Jane after he woke me up. I suppose that would make me Jane. And yes, I think I have an idea where he could be'

'You can't be her, Angel. Nick said Jane wasn't exactly "conscious". Feeling a little stupid as she stated the obvious, Katelyn continued, 'She couldn't tell them her name, which was why they called her Jane Doe.'

Raising her eyebrows, Angel laughed dryly, 'All the same dear, I'm pretty sure I'm her. Now please can we leave? I'm just as anxious as you are to find Doctor Nick, and I'm pretty sure the 'changed ones' will be here any minute.'

When he awoke the first thought that crossed Nick's mind was that he couldn't be dead, he seriously needed to pee. He looked around and saw that he was lying on a mat in a huge white room, seemingly without doors or windows. He watched impassively as several men and women wearing surgical masks and white lab-coats; drew blood from the people lying on the mats around him. He could only assume these were his travelling companions from the night before.

As a young nurse prepared his arm and quickly drew a blood sample, he asked, 'What is this place, and why am I here?'

Instead of answering his question the young nurse said calmly, 'There, there, you'll be fine don't worry about anything.' And then she moved to her next victim.

Nick sat up quickly then and said, 'I need to use the bathroom.'

Again without showing much interest, the nurse indicated the wall to their right, 'There's a door through there,' she seemed to smile at his confusion as she continued; 'you'll see it when you get closer.'

He saw what she meant as he approached, there were no door handles but if you pushed the slight indentations in the wall a door would open. The security guard, standing just outside, led him to the men's room and waited outside.

As he relieved himself, Nick let his eyes wander around the room for any possible escape routes. He noted an air vent, but at 6ft4, with a build to match, he would be way too big to fit through the opening.
