Kat stared at her book, grumbling in frustration at the worksheet before her. "What is the point of this stupid paper?!" She growled, "I swear I won't need any of this in life!"
To her left, a boy snickered, "Ease up, Girly." He chuckled and shook his head, turning back to his own work.
She looked up and scowled, "I wasn't talking to you." She snapped, "Back off." She pulled out her phone and skimmed her notifications, replying to several people.
"He's coming, I recommend you put it away." The same boy had peered over and was watching her, "You have ten seconds." His grin was full of amusement.
"Thanks." She muttered, sliding the phone under the desk as the teacher passed by.
***With her things ready, Kat slipped out of the room the moment the bell rang. She was so ready to leave that dreary room.
She was halfway down the hall when she heard a familiar voice beside her. She tilted her head and turned slightly , listening carefully.
"Do you have any clue where this room is?" She saw it was the same boy from before, "I am so confused!" He chuckled and smiled up at who she assumed was his friend.
"I'm headed there now..." she slowed her sentence when he turned to her completely, "Um... I c-can take you..." she said.
"Oh, thanks." He waved his friend away and fell into step beside her, "What's your name by the way?" He asked, eyeing her as they walked.
"Kat. How about you?" She avoided looking at him, feeling uneasy.
"Jack."
"Nice name."
"Yeah..."
They fell into an odd silence until they reached the class they needed.
"Here we are." She said, taking her seat, "there's a seat over there if you-" she was cut short by him sitting beside her, seemingly without a second thought."
"It's better here." He said, winking playfully and turning to face the front.
Kat blushed wildly but hid behind her sweatshirt and turned to pay attention to the class.
