Lights pass through the darkness as I gaze through the window on the moving train. Talking can be heard from a few passengers, each talking among themselves as I gaze outside. The stench of cigarettes and alcohol gently waft through the air, as if to prove that the night was only for drunks and the homeless. An aura of sadness fell around me as I ignored all but the passing lights. Each light that past I felt a wave of emotion strike through me as I recalled every defining memory that shaped myself both physically and mentally. I did not feel regret but immense pain of longing, the feeling lost and wishing to return to some of the more blissful moments. After a long while of soaking in these memories I dived deeper, remembering each and every friend I have ever had. The feeling of longing growing greater by the second. I knew that I had to move on but I didn't want to forget the people who helped me become who I am.
