Chapter One

December 2nd, 2016. A couple more weeks of college until winter break and honestly, I couldn't be any happier. The lack of sleep I been getting because of finals and the amount of stress on my shoulders have caused me to not be myself and I know my roommate doesn't like that.

I sit on this bus bench praying a bus would pull up any given moment. It's 30 degrees outside and my face feels frozen.  I'm in leggings, a pair of Ugg's, and a fancy-dress shirt and a sweater. Doesn't keep me all that warm.

I can still taste the liquor on my lips from the frat house party I was just at. The smell of weed lingers on my body, and I just can't seem to get rid of the smell. Going to this party seemed like such a good idea until now.

I look down both ends of a dead road. There is no sign of a bus coming anytime soon. But there is a person in a black jacket with their hoodie up heading towards the bus bench. Probably hoping for a bus to come also.

He sits beside me and slouches down. He doesn't say anything. It's a little awkward right now so I stand up and start pacing back and forth hoping that if I just move a little that a bus will appear. But nothing.

After a good twenty minutes, I give up. I should really just walk back to my dorm instead of wasting any more time. I sit back down and pull out my cell phone. The second I turn on my screen light, it dies. Completely shuts off from not charging it before I left for the party like my roommate suggested. Of course, I didn't listen to her.

I groan in frustration and shove my android back into my pocket. The boy looks at me with a grin.

"What?" I snapped.

"I'm Ashton." He holds out his hand.

"Okay, and I care why?" I roll my eyes. I'm really not in the mood for this dude. I am freezing and I want to go home and sleep.

The boy laughs and sits up, turning to face me. "Darling, do you know what time it is?" I shrug and try to turn my phone back on as if it magically got charged.

"1:47 in the morning." I look at him. "Buses around here stop coming at 11pm." He grins.

Asshole.

I abruptly shot up. "So, you were just going to sit there and not tell me!?" Who the hell does that?

His hazel eyes are looking at me amused once again. His large hand reaches up to his dirty blonde hair and pushes it back out of his face. He would be attractive if he wasn't rude.

I stomp off and start heading down the sidewalk where the snow is starting to appear.

"Oh, come on blondie." Ashton reaches me. "You can't be mad at me."

I stop and turn to him, crossing my arms. "And why not?"

"Because you were rude to me first."

"Was not." I turn on my heels and continue to walk.

"Excuse me but I introduced myself and you were just awfully mean to me." He's not actually hurt about this. He finds this entire conversation funny. From the moment he walked up to me to now.

He doesn't say anything to me since I ignored him. He walks past me and walks up to a black Lexus ls, pulling out a pair of car keys making the car unlock. He opens the driver side door, ready to get in.

"You have a car?" I ask.

He shrugs and nods at the same time. "Would your cold-hearted self like a ride?" I frown and start to walk away. "I'm kidding get in."
