"Abi, come see what Brianna posted!" Said Dale from across the room.
"Oh gosh, what is it this time?" I walked over and sat on the bed with them. On the computer screen showed a female in very thin clothing. Brianna was the type of girl to post pictures like these all the time.

I looked at Dale and raised my eyebrows. I began to study their features. Blue eyes, pale skin, brown hair. I smiled at how beautiful they were. Gosh, I wish they could see how nice they looked. Dale is always self doubting themselves. Saying that they wish they were thinner, had more curves, or were just prettier in general. Dale turned back to the screen and continued to look at social medias. I sat in silence on the bed, waiting for a conversation to begin. Dale had always been the talkative one, I'd listen. When they didn't talk, we just sat in awkward quietness.
We had been close friends since middle school, but once we got into high school, we were even closer. We'd tell each other just about everything. It only took me until this summer to realize how much I had liked them. When they dress really nice, they're beautiful. When they're wearing pajamas, they're still just as beautiful. Dale doesn't even know how much they mean to me. They prefer to be with their other friends with me, but I'm okay with that.

By the time the end of the summer came, I had wanted to tell Dale how much I liked them. I didn't know how they felt. I just wanted it off my chest. I have really bad anxiety though, so I figured it would just be easier to repress my feelings. School was about to begin and the most we've done is hugged, cuddled, and held hands. I feel like they didn't mean any of it in a relationship kind of way though. I wish I could gather the courage to ask them out. I fear rejection. I fear feelings in general.
