Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. "Bradley, it's time for you to wake up," a sharp familiar voice brought me out of the sweet comfortable darkness, my head ached and even the small act of opening my eyes sent shockwaves of pain throughout my broken body. "Come on open your eyes, that's it you're doing good." Another voice added, this one softer. Two woman leaned over me, blocking the blinding ceiling lights of the white room. What was going on? The first woman pulled me into a sitting position, her calloused hands were none too gentle. She scowled at me, her face resembled that of a bulldogs with a frown that seemed to strengthen that resemblance.
"Oh Jackie don't be so hard on her!" The blonde nurse said disapprovingly. "After all she's been through so much."
"Wha-" it felt like my mouth was filled with cotton and I couldn't even finish the word before I was having a coughing fit. The nurses exchanged a concerned glance before focusing on me.
"You don't remember?" The blonde murmured with a hint of sadness.
The bulldog lady rolled her eyes, "Of course she doesn't remember! Bradley, you were found on the steps of the hospital with a nasty concussion and a note on your chest that had your name on it, when we tried help you you went ballistic and started fighting us so we had to strap you down and fill you with sedatives." She turned to the blonde, whose name was apparently Joanne, to fetch some water and something soft for me to eat.

I stayed in the hospital for two days, the first for my memory and the second for observation. My parents had been on vacation for the last week and would be home sometime in the late evening. Joanne had been kind enough to call a taxi for me, and told me to call her once I got home which I promptly did.
