She laid there, as still as a feather in a windless room. Darkness caressed her body, covering every inch of skin, as if it were a blanket. Her mind races as her headphones flood her ears with music matching the steady patter of rain drops outside her window. Rhythmic and almost hypnotic. Home alone and at peace for the first time in what felt like ages.

A loud thud kills the day dreams about the racing rain along her window. The sound reverberates through the house. echoing off walls and tile. Her feet meet the carpet, taking small, hesitant steps towards the door. The metal knob shining slightly from the sliver of moonlight breaking through the clouds. Putting her weight on her back foot, she reaches out for the knob. it feels cold in her hand like an ice-cube. "Hello...?", she calls out, the grip on the doorknob tightening. Twisting before tearing it open.

There's nothing. Darkness in the hall blending with that of her bedroom. Her muffled footsteps and the nearly silent hum of electronics flow through the house.

Drip

Drop

There's someone here

It's just the faucet

Her foot steps come in faster succession. One after another down the steps and onto the tile. The sudden cold stings the bottoms of her bare feet. Her clothing cling to her flesh, Cold sweat glazing her body.

There's someone here

Its all in my head

I need to run

 stay calm

Her breathing is shallow, the walls of the room suffocating. Spinning, falling, losing touch. Her world Collapses on it's self. Panic consumes her body. She runs towards the Kitchen.

I have to protect my self

Her hands fumble through the drawer. Her fingers wrapping around the thickest handle.

They are here

"supri-" The Knife sticking out, All the way in up to the handle. The lights come on suddenly and the body slams into the ground "MOM!" Her father and younger brother watch a gape as the knife points straight into the air.

Her eyes flicker around the room. Her hands, The floor ,and a tiny white envelope reading *happy birthday* covered in crimson.
