A/N
This story is based on an alternate universe during the beginning of all out war, were Maggie and Jesus get lost. This DID NOT HAPPEN.
Also this story is made for fans of the walking dead, so I didn't really explain who the characters are, that have been met around this time of the story. This story starts around issue 25 of the comics, so it might not make much sense for newer fans. (sorry in advance!)
p.m. stands for 'Paul Monroe' Jesus's real name, and m.r. stands for Maggie Rhee.

The horde was closing in on us.
There was around 30-40 walkers, and we couldn't kill them fast enough. It was just me and Maggie, as all the others were busy fighting Negan and the saviors.
We would be there helping them win the war but no. Of course somehow we got trapped in between a a giant group of walkers, and were about to die.
And then I saw an opening.
I kicked the walkers in front of me, grabbed Maggie by the arm, and we ran.
We ran until we got lost.
Once we finally get out of sight, we stop, and Maggie cursed under her breath.
I looked at her.
"So what do we do now?" I ask.
"I don't know..." she replies.
I sat down on a log, and looked around the area, trying to find any obvious landmarks.
"It's okay," I said.
"We've done this many times before."
"It's just, we've never fought anyone as powerful as Negan, and our group has no idea where we are."
"Well we've always survived as a group, and I believe that we can keep doing that." I replied.
"Well they don't have us," she said. "That means that they don't have their normal group, and I'm afraid that this battle we are having with Negan, is going to turn into an all out war."
I try to keep her motivated. "No matter what happens, they will survive. Just Like they always have."
Maggie looked down at the ground.
"Let's go," I said. "We're going to need to find food before sundown, and shelter before the walkers get to us."
She nodded and we started to walk in a completely random direction.m.r.
I'm frustrated.
I've never been able to get lost so easy, and it all happened so fast.
I just remember running. An opening appeared, and like usual Jesus acted.
We acted so fast we didn't even pay attention to our surroundings.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
And we we're only running from walkers. Walkers are slow, there is no need to run that far.
We could have turned around and helped.
I kick the ground as hard as I can, sending dirt everywhere. Jesus doesn't even look up.
So we continue to walk, hopefully finding some food.
I see Jesus run into the bushes as fast as he can.
"Jesus!" I yell.
He peeks out of the bush, and puts a finger to his lips, telling me to be silent.
A minute later and he's back, clenching a dead squirrel in his hands.
I don't know how he catches stuff with his bare hands, and in this amount of time, but I don't ask. He guts the animal, and we clean it out in the water.
We'll cook it at dusk.
Eventually we find a car at the bottom of a cliff, someone must have driven off of it, but its covered in walker guts.
We clean it out, and then call it a night.
"Do you think we will ever find the others?" I ask.
"I don't know," Jesus replies. "We've just gotta hope."
And so we do.
