my eyelids fluttered open to my beautiful boy. we both fell asleep on our apartment floor after talking for hours into the early morning. i turned around to click on my phone and check the time: 11:43. i rolled back over and when i did his big, bright eyes were open and staring at me. i set my head back onto my pillow and stared back.
"good morning." i said with a smile. me and tobias started dating about halfway through my initiation and it's been 2 weeks since me and my class finished up our initiation. we've been dating for about a month now and he is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
"good morning love." he replied back while pushing the hairs out of my face and tucking them behind my ear. my heart fluttered as he skimmed his fingers along my skin and did he just call me "love"?
"what are we doing today?" tobias whispered.
"well, we both don't have job hirings for two more days so we have a couple days off to do something fun! i was thinking we could workout this morning and then maybe go for a walk through the city?" he immediately grinned.
"i love that idea." he replied, while leaning in closer. he gently pressed his lips to mine and pulled back with a smile. he leaned back in and placed a kiss on my forehead. the doorbell sadly ruined the moment and i crawled out from under the blankets and across the room to get to the door. i turned the handle open and pulled the door back. no one was there. i was about to shut the door when i saw a white envelope on the doormat. it didn't have a business stamp in the corner or anything at all as a matter of fact. i quickly bent down to grab it and shut the door. i stood in the entry way, and quietly tore open the top of the envelope and pulled out a small piece of paper. the handwriting looked like it was written in a rush but when i read the words, my blood froze. the note read "i know what you are." i had to blink a couple times and re read to make sure that's what it really sad. i was quickly snapped out of my daze when tobias yelled from the bedroom,"who was it?!"
"oh no one! must have just been some kids ding dong ditching." i said hesitantly as i slid the note into my pocket and crumpled the envelope. i through the envelope in the fire so tobias wouldn't find it and i never heard a response from him. i heard the shower turn on so i was safe and hopefully he would forget about it. but who the hell was that? and how in the world would they know who i am? that im...divergent?
