"Alright Regina" The 15 year old said to herself in the mirror "first day of high school, it'll be great" she thought. As much as you may think this teenager would be excited, awake and dancing around in her pyjamas while getting ready... it was quite the opposite. Regina Mills did not want to wake up at 6:30 in the morning, nobody does really. Although she was looking forward to the next stage in her life, she was also realizing that it would get a lot harder from here. And waking up too early for her liking was just the beginning of it. Today was going to be her first day of high school.
She walked over to her closet where the hardest part of the morning would take place. Luckily, she went to a public school where she did not have to where a uniform. She wanted to do something trendy but still her style. She picked out a pair of plain back Lululemon leggings that went down to her ankles and for a shirt she wasn't too sure about. That's why leggings where basically her life...anything went with them and it didn't matter when or what weather it was. She eventually decided that she'd pick a shirt out after she showered. As she stepped into the steaming hot shower she closed her eyes, still wishing to be able to go back to bed. When she realized she was daydreaming and that it could cause her to be late, she made the water colder to try and wake her up. Regina grabbed her apple scented shampoo and massaged it through her scalp a little harder than usual since she was feeling a headache come on which she really did not want happening especially today.
She stepped out of the shower onto the floor mat and dried herself off. She then wrapped a towel around her hair and another around her body and stepped back into her room to her closet. It took a good five minutes, but Regina finally decided on a light, white hoodie from Hollister that had some cute symbols just in the top left corner. She quickly changed as she was starting to get cold from the breeze of air conditioning around her practically bare body. She took a good look at herself in the full length mirror "not that bad...now for makeup" she said to herself while walking across the room to her fairly large vanity. Re-doing Regina's room was last years birthday present. She got to choose every single design and colour right down to which throw pillows she wanted for her bed. She loved the finished look so much. She had white fairy lights framing around her bed with panorama photos of her friends, family, and even some tumblr pics attached to the strands of them. Her walls were painted a light grey colour and the room was made brighter with white bed sheets and very small accents of coral pink. She had her own bathroom which she was very lucky to have, and a fairly large closet for the small amount of clothing she actually had and her vanity was placed close to her bedroom door.
She sat down in her comfortable chair and started to do her makeup, just a simple look as always. A very thin layer of bb cream, concealer, mascara, and maybe a winged liner today which she decided she would do, perhaps it'll direct her more attention from others. Once she accepted her final look, Regina started to gather her things such as her school bag, socks, and her contacts which she forgot to put in earlier, so she'd do it downstairs.
Her mother was already at the table waiting for her. Cora only had one condition, and that was to eat breakfast with Regina on her first day. And although Regina didn't exactly love the idea, she wanted to make her mom happy. But before doing anything she walked over to the hallway mirror and quickly put her contacts in. "How's my girl this morning?" Regina asked when she sat down. She really didn't like her calling her that, which she's told her mom, but she's simply given up trying and let Cora call her whatever she wants, as long as there are no pet names. "Good mum, I'm just tired" she told her before taking a large bite of her waffle. "Well dear your gonna have to get used to that" said Cora. "I know, I don't think I ever will though" they laughed. When they were just about finished, Regina realized that she had to leave, so she thanked her mom for breakfast and ran upstairs to brush her teeth and came right back downstairs. She bid her mom goodbye for the day and left to walk to her bus stop. It was a five minute walk but she didn't mind, it just meant that she had time to listen to music on the way. Once she got there, there were about six more students at the stop. Obviously she didn't know any of them so she stood there quietly just listening to her music. Once the bus came ten minutes later, she was the last to get on, and once she did, she realized that there wasn't a spot left for her. She looked around trying to find a person that didn't look as pissed off as others to ask to sit with. Then all of a sudden she heard a voice that seemed to be directed to her. "You can sit here if you want" Regina looked over to the right to find the matching voice, it was a guy that looked to be the same age as her and she really did have to admit, he was pretty cute. So she sat down and gave him a quick "thanks" as she took off her bag and put it on her lap. "No problem, I'm Daniel" he replied. "I'm Regina, nice to meet you." And just like that, Regina made her first high school friend. Her and Daniel talked and talked the whole bus ride. Just small talk conversation about what year they were in, he was actually a year older than her and Regina had told him she was just a freshman. He didn't care though, he was actually a pretty nice guy. Really into sports, wanted to go into engineering and so on. The bus ride was about fifteen minutes long which was a lot of time to talk. As they stepped off the bus they said goodbye to each other and went their separate ways. He told her to let him know if she needed anything like if she was lost or something like that. And just like that, she was in a new place.
