"I don't like the possible outcomes of this situation!" I yelled to Andy.
We were surrounded by monsters. Monsters from Greek Mythology, of course. We were back to back, with our friend Ari, AKA the human computer, of to the side a bit. Since she wasn't the best fighter, she usually just negotiates with the enemy or stays out of out way.
"We're in this situation because of you!" Andy yells at me. I roll my eyes.
"No need to blame anyone, Andy!" I respond.
"By the way, what are the possible outcomes?" Andy asks.
"Well, there's death by monster or death by injury or living with the physical pains of a limp, maybe even being paralysed." I say, looking out over the sea of monsters.
"Or you could win with minimal damage!" Ari yells from her spot beside us.
"Ah, Ari, always the optimist." Andy and I said at the same time. Ari just rolled her eyes and continued observing the monsters.
"Oh, and, Cass , you have some old friends in this crowd." Ari says, pausing over some of the herd.
"Which ones this time?" I groaned.
I had faced a lot of monsters since I was claimed. It comes with being a child of the big three. And with my two best friends also being children of the big three, this happens way more than it should. My father was Zeus, Andy's was Poseidon, and Ari's was Hades.
"A lot actually. Most notably the Minotaur, Medusa and the gorgons, and a couple more." Ari answers, her black eyes darting around.
We all had the stereotypical appearance of big three kids. I had black hair and electric blue eyes. Andy had black hair and see green eyes. Ari had black hair with black eyes. We were all pretty pale, the tan Andy had was natural, though she had been slowly getting paler. We had been trapped in enemy territory for the last year, where we had been locked in a cell without a window. We didn't see the light of the sun unless we were outside, which rarely happened.
We were all kind of punk rock people, except for Ari, who was a complete nerd, complete with glasses. My hair usually stayed in a side braid because it was too long. Andy had shoulder length hair. Both of us had a couple gray streaks in our hair. We had gotten them last summer, when we had had to hold up the weight of the world. Ari had been spared that torture seeing as she had been serving her own in the underworld.
She'd been visiting her father.
Her mother, Linda, and him had stayed close over the years. Linda had been willing to let her visit him monthly. If you ask me, Ari had it worse than we did. And we risk our lives almost every year.
Back to the situation at hand.
The monsters were being patient for some reason. They hadn't attacked yet. We were starting to get restless. Our ADHD was kicking in from standing in the same place for a while.
"AHHHH!" We heard from behind the hoard. Andy and I look at each other, our eyes widening.
That voice sounded a lot like Andy's little brother, Percy.
"Seaweed Brain! You idiot!"
And that was Annabeth.
"Both of you, stop whatever you're doing right now!" I yelled, pulling out my sword. "Don't touch any monsters!"
"Perce?" Andy called out. "Perce? Is that you?"
"Yeah, it's me." Percy called.
"Alright, Perce, the Minotaur and Medusa are here. Do you really want to be on their bad side?" I yelled. Then, as an afterthought, "Again?"
"That wouldn't be smart, Barnacle Boy." Ari called to him. Ari usually didn't like Percy. She had come up with as many nicknames she could and decided she like Barnacle Boy the best.
"Don't you think I know that, Death Breath?" Percy yells back.
"By the way, where's Grover?" I ask. "Who else did you bring on this quest?"
"Grover was busy. Thalia came instead." Annabeth said.
"My sister's here?" I questioned, crossing my arms. "Where is the little brat?"
"I'm a better archer than you, sis!" We hear from the other side of the arena.
"For gods sake, how many times do I have to tell you?" I yell, exasperated. "The only person worse than me is Seaweed Brain over there!"
"Not my fault!" Percy yelled.
"And, sis, I am such a better swordsman than you. And I have a couple blessings up my belt." I call, ignoring Percy.
"How many do you have now?" Andy groaned.
"All twelve, and a couple miners." I said, grinning proudly.
"So you basically have power over everything?" Ari asks, walking over to us.
"It's not like you don't. You have as many blessings as I do. So does Andy." I answer her. "From all the same gods, too."
"What are you guys talking about?" Percy asks.
"Blessings from the gods. You guys'll get some later in life." Andy briefs him.
"I never should've told you guys what I saw." I grumbled.
"Cassandra!" a voice bellowed from the middle of the monsters. "Andromeda! Ariadne!"
"Come on! Everyone knows we hate our names!" Andy screams.
"Oh no. You've made her mad." I hear Ari mumble under her breath.
"Why couldn't we have normal names?" I ask myself. "I mean it would've saved us a lot of trouble in life. I wouldn't have visions, Andy wouldn't be forced to become the constellation goddess when she dies, and Ari. . . Well, Ari's life has been pretty nice so far. For a demigod."
"That is a very good question, Cassandra." a strange voice says from behind me. I spin around to see a man cloaked in darkness. But not like Hades darkness. His robes had millions of stars and constellations on it. I swear I could even see some of them exploding. "My name is Chaos. I heard you were in some trouble."
