“Hey, Martin, did u see the news this morning?!?”
“Hey man, you awake?”
“Martin?”
Well, it has never been a great idea to put your phone in auto-receive mode. Now you have morons knocking your head over the phone all day long.
“Yes Josh, I’m awake. Continue…”
“What happened to you, man? Are you still hot about that matter?”
“I don’t wanna talk about it. Why did u call?”
“Did u see the news this morning?”
“No. What happened?”
“Gotta go!”
I stretched my left hand to grab my headset and wore it. The power switch has stopped functioning properly. I guess I’ll have to buy a new one.
“Hello Dr. Connors”
“Hello Sophie. Turn on the T.V. please”
“Sure thing, Doctor”
The T.V. turned on. This new AI program they released is proving to be really helpful. The last one couldn’t even tell the difference between cows and turkeys!

“After the recent events which took place in Mars, the salvage bots finally returned to Earth with the salvageable remaining of the Machinery Intilligence Troops which were sent by the Rehabilitation Management 16 years ago. The information was confirmed by the Space Affairs division of the UN.”

The voice of the narrator gave me a chill. I rushed to the closet. But the closet wouldn’t open. See! That’s the problem of high-tech. You can’t even get something to wear without your voice being recognized.

“Sorry, Doctor. Voice recognition required.”
“Connors. Martin”
“Access granted”

The clicking noise of the closet door confirmed me of its opening. I took a coat and the car keys. Then I went to the garage to get my engine started.

“Hello Doctor. Please confirm your voice recognition and insert the key to start the engine.”
“Connors. Martin”
“Access granted”

It was hard for me to insert the keys properly as my hands were trembling with excitement. I was able to start the engine after the sixth attempt.

“Please confirm your destination”
“Take me to my lab, Downtown, California”
“Hope you enjoy your journey, Doctor.”

The car started moving. The auto-pilot is a real life saver in this kind of situations. If I had to drive now, I’m pretty sure I would’ve made a mess. It took me about three minutes to reach the lab. I got out of the car and rushed to the entrance. I put my eyes in front of the retinal scanner.  It looked like I was a little late than my labmates.

“Took you longer than expected.” said Dr. Johnson.
“Sorry Doctor. Now tell me, is he really here?”
“Right onto the business, huh?” smiled Dr. Jones.
“Please, just show me the Warrior- 8.3!”

I could tell that my labmates were really enjoying my anxiety. Dr. Johnson took me to the servicing rooms.

“You’ll find your bot at room no.213.” He handed over the keys to me. I put the key through the keyhole and gave it a soft spin. The doors of the servicing rooms hadn’t been upgraded for more than 20 years. But still, I like it this way. I pushed the door. As the heavy iron door opened, I saw him sitting on the servicing bed. I couldn’t hold my tears when I saw him. I was looking at my best creation after 16 long years! I tried to run to him, but my feet were too slow. I couldn’t move fast as my whole body was cold as ice. I stared the external power generator. His own power supply was too rusty to function. Then I stretched my right hand behind his head to turn his switch on. He slowly opened his rusted little eyes.

“Hello Doctor. It’s been a long time.”
My heart was jumping with joy. My creation, my robot, my son! He recognized me!
“How are you, Warrior?” I asked wiping my wet eyes.
“Fine, Doctor. I hope you are also well.”
“I couldn’t feel better after seeing you, Warrior!”
“Thank you, Doctor”
“Look at you! You are all rusted and dusted! I’ll have you cleaned up and repaired in no time.”
“Thank you again, Doctor.”
