I let out a small sniffle as the end credits of ‘Thor’ rolled across my tv screen. My best friend/flat mate, Marci looked over at me and laughed.
“Really Kat? You’re actually crying?”
“Shut up! It was a sad ending!” She laughed again and rolled her eyes at me. “If your favorite character fell into a big void in space you’d be sad too!”
“Whatever you say, Kitty!” I huffed grabbed the pillow I was currently crying into and threw it at her.
“Im sensitive, don’t fucking judge me.” She tossed the pillow onto the floor, shushing me as the credits ended and the bonus scene came on. For some reason, we had always been obsessed with catching every detail and ever piece of information we possible could. Two quiet gasps resounded as a living, breathing Loki came on screen once again. Eyes wide and mouths partially opened, we watched the screen attentively, waiting to see what would happen next. When the scene came to an end, I jumped off of the couch and let out a small squeal.
“Yes! That means Loki’s gonna be in The Avengers! More Tom Hiddleston!” Marci rolled her eyes at me and got up off the couch to walk into the kitchen.
“Hey Kat, your fangirl is showing.” She said as she opened the cabinet and pulled out a coffee mug. I turned to pick up the pillow off of the floor, tossing it onto the couch before walking into the kitchen.
“Oh please,” I said, rolling my eyes at her. “If it was Chris Evans, you’d be freaking out just like I am. So you have no room to talk, Ci Ci.” She shrugged, giving me her usual ‘good point’ face. Ever since I was 15, I had been a huge fan of Tom Hiddleston. He was actually why I got so interested in superhero movies and was my reason for wanting to become and on-screen actor. It had been my dream for the longest time to star in a movie with him so I had hoped that moving to L.A. would help increase my chances. I pulled out one of the bar stools situated at the island in the center of the kitchen. Marci and I had been staying in our small, two bedroom apartment for a little over a year and a half. We’d been best friends since our sophomore year in high school and had dreamed about traveling and making it big. So we both decided to move to L.A. after four years of college that basically resulted in nothing but student loans and two framed diplomas.
“Oh, dude I forgot to ask! How was your audition last week?” She finished pouring coffee into her mug and took a sip before sitting across from me.
“Meh. It went alright. It wasn’t my best but Jason said they liked me so I guess that’s a good sign!” My agent, Jason, had been a friend of my parents since 1980 when the three of them graduated from high school together. I had known Mark my whole life, so when he heard I moved to L.A. to try acting, he had no problem with helping me out and becoming my agent.
“When will you hear about wether or not you got the part?” She asked, taking another sip of her coffee.
“Jason said he would hear back from the casting dire-“ I stopped at the sound of a knock at the door. I got up from my seat at the table and walked over to the front door, putting my long, red hair up into a pony tail before opening it. “Speak of the devil,” I said, holding my arms open to hug the 6 foot tall man standing in front of me.
“And he shall appear!” Jason added, walking in to give me the hug I had been waiting for. He kicked off his shoes before I walked back towards the kitchen, Jason following suit. He glanced over at the tv and saw the disc menu for ‘Thor’ still playing on the screen and laughed. “Thor? Again, Katarina? That poor disc is gonna stop working soon if you keep playing it so much!"
“I tried to tell her,” added Marci, taking another sip of her coffee. “but, hey, you can’t stop the inner fangirl.” I stuck my tongue out at her as I walked over to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water before handing it to Jason. He took the bottle from me, taking a sip.
“So, to what do we owe this pleasure?” Marci said in a cheesy, horrible British accent. He laughed and shook his head before replying.
“Well, I got a call from my friend Julie earlier today. You remember her, right? She was the casting director you met last week at your audition."
“Oh yeah! She was super sweet! What did she say?” I stiffened up a bit, anxious to hear what he was going to say.
“She said she thought your audition went really well. She’s looking for up and coming talent to play the female lead and feels that you would be a great fit for the part.”
“No. Freaking. WAY!” Marci said after nearly choking on her coffee. “So does that mean Kat got the part?!” Still too anxious to say anything, I sat and waited for Jasons reply; letting out a small giggle at the small amount of coffee that was now spilled on her sweater and the counter.
“That’s exactly what it means. Julie said she’d be sending you the script in a few days.” Jason stopped and laughed. Probably at the fact that both Marci’s jaw and mine were on the floor. “The first read through is in a month. Does that sound good with you?”
“Sound good? It sound freaking amazing, that’s how it sounds.” I yelled, jumping up out of my seat to hug Jason. Marci did the same a few seconds later. After our little moment of hugging, Marci and I returned to our seats.
“Julie arranged a small dinner at her place next week for you and the male lead so you two can get to know each other.” He added, taking another sip of his water.
“ Oh ok. Sounds like fun!” I took out my phone and added the event to my calendar before turning back to Jason. “Has she told you who the male lead is yet?” I asked. He smiled and let out a slightly maniacal laugh before answering my question.
“Tom Hiddleston."
