"It'll be fun Samantha, I promise!" My mom said encouragingly, but her hopes of making me happy did not work. I glared out the car window, lush, green spruce trees whizzed past me, furious with my parents. I said nothing. Not even the beautiful mountains, quite breath-taking in the December snow, could change my mood. I just couldn't believe my parents would ship me off to a boring, week-long winter camp while they travel to Paris to visit there friends for Christmas. What about me? Why do I have to go to a lame camp and miss out on Christmas with my friends? It's bullshit! I tried to convince them to let me stay at home, but they told me I would be grounded, lose my drivers and have my phone taken away for the rest of the school year. It was outrageous! I hate them! I'm 17 and they're treating me like a new born who needs 24/7 supervision.
I turned the radio on to my favourite music, my mom frowned, then I turned it up. My mom and I didn't talk for the rest of the 8 hour drive. I kept my eyes on the rushing world, but I wasn't really watching it. It was just a blur as I thought of how awful my life was...

I had soon dozed off, for the night before waves of frustration were flooding out of me as I punched my pillow and glared so hard at the roof my eyes ached.
That night, I had a total of 30 minutes of sleep, I would doze off, then wake up and punch the letters in my phone to tell my friends how I despised my parents.
As I drifted off to sleep in our little, moving car, I thought of what Christmas would have looked like if I was home. Hot chocolates in our hands, my friends and I, Brooklynn, Savannah, Taya, and Dominique, would giggle and gossip about stupid things as we decorated the bushy Christmas tree.

"Honey, wake up." My mother said in a soft voice as she grasped my shoulder and gave me a gentle shake. Very slowly, I opened my eyes and squinted at the blinding-white snow out the car window. "Where are we?" I asked sleepily as I slowly repositioned myself. "We're here."
