As I walked into the bathroom, smiling broadly, I looked at myself in the huge mirror in front of the sinks. There were Christmas lights around it, and 4 sinks in the counter. As my wavy brown hair wrapped around my shoulders, I noticed it was darker then usual around my eyes, so I added a thin layer of concealer. I also noticed my mascara was wearing out, so I reapplied.
I left the bathrooms feeling better, thinking the week might not be as bad as I thought.
The snow under my feet crunched as I walked to the chalet.
I started to think about Justin. He was so cute, but I didn't really know him. He seemed nice, but that could have been because he almost winded me.
I put my thoughts on pause as I walked through the the chalet door. The buzz of chatter greeted me and warmth kissed my cold cheeks once again. I set my luggage aside with the rest and took off my boots and coat. As I hanged the coat on the rack and set my boots aside, I looked around. There was 18 people, chatting in groups. Some were at the tables in the middle of the chalet, others to the left on bean bags and couches. I watched a girl chatting on a couch as she grabbed a blanket and pillow from a straw basket beside a wooden coffee table in the centre of all the couches.
Suddenly, I smelt food. I looked around and saw, in front of the chairs and tables, was a bar-like counter with an assortment of food. Still feeling sick with mixed emotions, I wasn't feeling hungry, but I did go to see what there was. Before I took more than 5 steps, a wave of cold air washed over me from behind. I turned around and saw Justin and Martha walking in from the door I had walked through a minute ago. We exchanged awkward smiles, and he walked towards me after taking off his boots.
"Hi again." I said, as I shifted my weight awkwardly.
"Hi. I, I'm sorry about earlier. I was just lost in thought and wasn't looking where I was going." I giggled. "I'm fine! It's really no big-".
"Hey Justin!" Said a giggly brunette. Her long hair was in a high pony tail, she was wearing a burgundy sweater, black skinnies, and a pink and white pair of fluffy socks. I scowled at her.
"How've you been?" She asked, an innocent smile on her pale face.
"I, um, I..." Her smile spread even further actions her face. She grabbed his arm, "Come see Nicole and John!", and started to drag him towards a group of people sitting on the couches. He looked back at me and mouthed "sorry". He turned back an looked at the girl leading him to the couches. "Brianna, that was really rude. I need to go back, I can talk to them another time." I heard him tell her. "Don't be silly! You don't have to be with her 24/7. I know you just feel sorry for her because she's an ugly loser." Brianna said casually, a smile still plastered on her face. I looked away, pretending I didn't hear her, when they turned to look at me.
"Alright campers!" Said Martha, still near the door. Everyone fell silent and all heads were turned. "It's time to know who you share a cabin with! In the green cabin, we have Cole, Tyler, Justin, Anastasia, Alisa, Samantha, Jeff, Kevin, Lauren, and Silvy. In the red cabin, we have Nicole, Sarah, Kianna, Jeff, Brianna, Karen, Kate, Sasha, Kyle, and Jordan. Alright, I'm going to pin this up so if you ever need it, it'll be right here." She walked to the pin board and pinned up the paper showing what cabin you were in. "Everyone please go to your cabin and get settled and acquainted with your roommates! Everyone please meet back here in an hour." She smiled as everyone got up and gathered there things.
