The sun filtered through the panels of the window, dust particles floating in the stream of light. Everywhere else in the room was completely dark. Naomi sat huddled in the corner of the darkened room, beautiful round eyes focused on the stream of light. Watching the particles dance freely; taunting her situation.

She could not recall how long she had been locked in this room, nor how long until she'd leave it. They think I'm psychotic. Of course they do you idiot! She had been arguing her thoughts the hour? Day? However long she'd been in the cramped, dark room. Images of those things crept into her mind with the silence of the room. It was a heavy weight pressing on her shoulders. She tried to concentrate on what had happened to her. Why had nobody else seen it attack me? It was hard to even believe she had seen it herself at this point.

The room was cramping more and more as she thought about its constricting words, I'm never getting out again... she worried herself to the point of biting her nails, a habit she'd lost a couple years prior.

The door of the room opened and she was blinded by the amount of light that poured into the room. She had to reach up and cover her eyes before they started watering from the sharp pain. "Get up." A masculine voice commanded, "Now." She was offended by the rudeness of this masculine person, such that she stood quickly and went to yell in that persons face. When her eyes adjusted.

"I don't appreciate -" she started her rank, stopping short as her tongue tied at what she saw. The commanding voice belonged to a very attractive man, his was much taller than her, around 6'2", tanned skin and muscles that moved beneath his black T. He had casual black pants on a pair of tennis shoes. His eyes were a lovely dark brown and his face was round with a hard jawline. He had dark, short Afro- like hair. Naomi caught herself gawking at his perfection, at a loss for words. She could see a hint if a tattoo on his right shoulder peeking out from his shirt collar.

"Don't appreciate what?" He started at her expectantly. She felt heat rush to her face.

"Nothing!" She smiled; he didn't return it. He turned and began to walk away, she wasn't sure whether to follow or not so she stayed put. He turned and looked at her like she was stupid.

"Well are you coming?" She nodded and began to follow like a shameful puppy. Stupid stupid... the little voice scolded her. Shut up. She fired back at it, picturing it huddling back into whatever corner in her brain it came from.

She followed him down neatly lit corridors that resembled that of a hotels, No, she second guessed, a hospital! But it far too advanced in technological decor to be either. She felt the prying eyes of the people behind the lenses of the cameras that were assembled every six or so feet. "Where am I?" She finally asked the super attractive guy.

"A place where we can be safe." She chewed on the words. We? How intriguing a cliff hanger if there ever was one! She glared at his back, wanting to kick him for such a blunt explanation, but she didn't push for more information. The tile floor was neatly polished and she smiled at her reflection in the black tiles.

After making a right down a smaller, dimmer hallway, there was a large green door without a door handle. How the fuck do you get in there?! She was truly curious now. The guy walked over to the door, which began to talk.

"Please show verified Identification." The monotone mechanical voice demanded. The guy pulled a card from his pocket with his picture and pressed it against one of the strange panels.

"Scorpion Maxfield, alpha, 4178."

"ID verification complete." She expected the door to open, but it didn't. He then placed a hand on the second scanner.

"Finger print analysis complete." He then leaned down placing his right eye in what she believed was a retina scanner, the red light sweeping over his eye. "Retina analysis matched." The air locks release with a loud gush and the door slid away. "Welcome, agent 4178." The securities auto system greeted. Agent? Naomi looked at Scorpion as he walked in; she followed suit. It was just an elevator? The voice came again.

"Going down."

Naomi stomach dropped as she looked at him. "Welcome to Trinity Institute, initiate." He smiled, dimples appearing on his cheeks; adorable and admirable. She pressed a hand to the glass and watched as she dropped down into something utterly beautiful, a new world. It was as if they were forever falling... down.
