As I was walking hand and hand with Alex, you could hear the patter of the rain on the roofs of the buildings we passed.
"You know, When you go. ill miss you."
"You know, when i go. that's not going to stop me. i've been alone for god knows how long. you've came into my life just recently. you wouldn't know half of it. these people, they said they knew something that would help cure me."
"fine. whatever. "
"Beep Beep" the car loudly honked twice making me jump as they slowed down next to us. I didn't turn, or even move an inch. I didn't and couldn't acknowledge it was there.
"I have to go" I whispered to Alex.
"No" she whispered back to me, her tiny hand tightening around mine.
Then she started crying, and I felt hot tears start to come to the surface of my own eyes.
I mumbled goodbye, and got into the car. i felt the warm tears fall down my cheeks as i quickly wiped them off.
I didn't want to turn around, but i had to, i couldn't bare to just sit here. When i did i saw Alex running after the car.
"Remember!" she screamed.
"Remember our promise! Never Forget it! Don't you ever forget it!"
I lost my control after that, i couldn't just sit here and be taken away from her. she would be left in the situation i was in. alone. I jumped up and went to open the car door in a panic. Before i knew it somebody grabbed the back of my coat and yanked me back before i could get out of the car. Before i could shout to her a real goodbye; Before i could tell her that no matter what i could never forget the promise we made. Never, not in a million years. Even if i lived that long, i could never forget the day i said those words and made that promise to her.
"she is no longer your friend. you will have new friends. you will have a new life. leave memories behind" i heard a low raspy voice say from the seat behind me as i let a hand on my shoulder. i felt chills run down my spine like little ants fleeing their colony.
