Malisha was so furious she was seeing red.

What had started out as a great day had ended up as being the worst day of her life. She had waited for so long for this chance to redeem herself. To make a new name that would wipe off all the scandals that had once soiled her good name. For the perfect chance. The perfect opportunity that would help her slip back into the halls of Society, but now, nothing short of a miracle could save her and she was angry.

Malisha was angry at herself and even more at him. At the man who had made it all so hard and the situation much worse than it should have originally been.

Why he always seemed to derive so much pleasure in tormenting her. The answers evaded her, but certainly it was all his fault. A disgruntled Malisha finally decided as she walked down a pathway that was beside the empty asphalt highway. On either side of her, the path was lined by a row of palm trees and from a distance behind her, the silhouette of a city could also be seen. The tall and shiny sky scrapers glinting in the morning sun surrounded by a massive sea of green.

"Seduce him? What an utterly ridiculous notion!"  She remarked scathingly, her emotions burning with so much ire that soon turned into a welcome distraction that served her avid escapism rather well. Safe to say, that in all their encounters, these words had simply been the harshest that she had ever heard from him.

"Seduce him?"she repeated herself if only to keep her mind from going down that particular lane. "As if I would ever lower myself to such a standard. How desperate does he think I am?" Despite everything, her principles were a thing that still mattered to her and it irritated her to no end to find out that he could think of such things with all their history.

Assaulted by not just the words but also the mental images from that morning, Malisha shook not just her head but the thoughts would not leave her mind. It was painful and the more it persisted, Malisha found herself stomping her feet, growling in a fit frustration as she struggled hard not to pull out own hair from all the mental incursion.

What would she do now? Was there even a way to salvage the situation now that it had been wrecked beyond reprieve? She contemplated as she looked down at her muddied shoe. A sharp contrast to the clean grey tarmac that she was now treading on.  There was simply no way out of it. She finally admitted defeat. There was no way about it and there would be another scandal just like that day all those years ago.

"Why couldn't I just leave the damned scarf alone?"  Her red clad foot connected with yet another small stone and sent the loose rock flying into the main highway that was still stretching on ahead of her.

"And that blasted wind!" She growled, somehow managing to drag her feet along the narrow tarmacked pathway with a barefoot and a broken heel that hurled off more lose rocks with every step that she took forward.

She was glad that the road was empty. It usually was, but with the unfortunate turn of that morning, she had began to suspect that even nature itself was conspiring with her nemesis to see her humiliated .

"Nature conspiring against you?" A voice scoffed. She could hear the laughter and even more, the mischief that coated the tongue that she was least expecting to hear.

"Not now..." she groaned. The day was hard enough without adding her own breed of insanity into the mix. Or maybe, it was a real person speaking? she looked around and dared to hope.

"It's me, dummy!" the voice interjected and the girl's heart sunk even more. "How you never learn is just amazing. Putting yourself up to all this proving nonsense. What sense is there in it?" it nagged.
