a/n- this is more of a filler, so please don't come for me 😭
——————"Jood. Listen to me, will you?"
"For the nth time, Qasi, I am not going to shoot eggs at our neighbors' houses."
"Why not?" He whines.
"Because it's not nice. And you can't just shoot eggs at them for no valid reason. I mean, if this was a revenge plan, then I would have agreed."
"But this is a revenge plan. "
"They said you were a rotten egg, ya himar. Nothing else. Stop being so sensitive."
"You're no fun." He turns his face away in irritation, and then spots Dana, and a huge grin falls over his face.
"Don't you think it'll be fun, Dana?"
"No. No way you're dragging me into one of your brother-sister fights again. Last time I stepped in to help, I ended up getting half of my hair cut off , and a 'who asked for your help, know-it-all?' "
"Please, please, please."
"No."
"All girls are horrible. Every single one of them." He says, walking out of the room.

It's been a week now. A week since Baba was taken away. There has been no news from him, no indication that he'll come back.
Qasi had been trying to cheer us all up with his stupidity, but even with the cheery façade that he had been putting on, it wasn't hard for me to see that he missed dad too.
Dana being here had helped, but even she was struggling to come to terms with her mom's death. Even though the two of them weren't as close as they used to be before Mr. Karim went missing, it was still her mother.
I take the plate from Dana, as she heads back to bring in a pitcher of water. Qasi exits the kitchen at the same time, almost knocking her down. His face darkens, and I notice him fumbling an apology to her as she smiles and tells him it's okay, then walks to the kitchen.
Qasi catches me smiling at this and gives me an inquisitive look. I give him a playful smile which he ignores.
"Why don't you just marry her already?"
I see his head snap up to look up at me.
"What do you mean?"
"Your hopeless crushing won't get you anywhere unless you man up and ask for her hand." I explain.
"I don't-"
"-Qasi." I cut him off.
"That obvious?" He chuckles nervously.
I laugh.
"So what's the hot discussion topic?"
I see him freeze as he hears Dana's voice and laugh again.
"Ah, Qasi's being Qasi."
She laughs, and mom joins us as we all sit down to eat.
In the midst of it, I nudge my brother as a signal to start and he looks over at me then gulps.
"Um, I've been meaning to ask..."
