"This has never been tested on any of the others before I don't know how her body will react to it." A voice in the darkness. A woman's voice.
"I don't care. Proceed with the experiment as planned." A mans voice this time. Where am I? There was silence for a moment, then I felt a scream tear its way through my throat as a searing pain worked its way up my arm. My body started thrashing against the cold metal table, I was strapped down to stop me from moving too much but it wasn't helping. The pain was unbearable, yet it fled just as quickly as it had come. Leaving behind the fleeting feeling of emptiness, and the undoubtable knowledge that something gravely terrible had just taken place.

Chapter 1

I opened my eyes. Bright light and the smell of sterilizing agents hit me as I tried to sit up. My wrists, ankles and neck were held tightly in place and I started to panic, pulling against the leather before I heard a familiar voice from the corner of the room.
"Victor! Get in here! It's awake!" It was the female voice from earlier. I heard quick footsteps coming from my left side as a man dressed in a white coat strode confidently into the room and towards the table I was on.
"Hello 147. You must have a lot of questions. Let me introduce myself, I am Dr. Victor and the lady over there is my assistant Lacie. We are here to make you stronger, but before you can be of use to us, we must first run some tests."
Victor reached for what looked like a metal case. He opened the case with a click and drew out a hearty glass syringe and with it a thick silver needle. He walked over to a cabinet filled with different colored liquids, examined the contents of each carefully and after a minute pulled out a bottle that seemed almost purple in the dim light. Adjusting the syringe he filled it with the strange liquid and turned towards me excitedly.
"You're the first of your kind you know 147. First out of all to have survived anyway. Just wait until the director hears." The syringe swung about as he moved his hands while he spoke, and my eyes locked with his as he made his way towards me. Terror set in as my muddled brain realised that needle was meant for me. I started pulling on the leather straps trying to find a way out, a way to fight what was happening.
"Don't worry 147. Time to sleep for now."He placed a hand on my head to steady my neck and inserted the needle. His hands were cold and an unwanted pain clawed its way through a large portion of my neck. I could feel a scream about to escape my mouth, but it didn't have to. Something else was screaming for me. The loud drumming of an alarm accompanied by red flashing lights filled the room and Victors face changed .
"Lacie! Secure the experimental data and go under lockdown. " Victor dropped the empty syringe on a nearby tray and started shoving papers and books into a bag he had found under the desk.
"Sir. They're in. I'm going to have to ask you to evacuate the building immediately. We are under attack." I turned my head as far as I could and pressed my cheek on the cold metal. There was a black suited man standing in the doorway, holding two guns, one in each hand. He seemed like a robot to me, the way he stood so calm while everyone else was running. It wasn't until a loud crash came from somewhere outside the door that Robot man turned and ran, but unlike everyone else, he ran towards the sound.
"Lacie follow me we need to evacuate!" Victor was pale as he addressed his assistant. His face blurred the longer I stared though as the cold in my neck started to spread down my arms no torso
"But sir! What about the project. The research alone cost millions we can't just leave it here to be destroyed!"
"They won't destroy her she's too valuable. we'll find her eventually but for now we need to go." Victor pulled the blonde woman by the wrist and ran out of the door.
I stared at the the now empty space and watched on as everything began to spin. A man appeared in the doorway, face masked by the melting of all his features together. I was getting tired, the man ran towards the table and frantically pulled at the straps holding me down. No, not a man. A boy, just like me.
"Hey wake up! Can you hear me? We need to get moving! Foxfire get in here she's strapped down!" He shouted as he turned to look at the door. Or, at least i think that's what he did.
The world started swimming around me, colours twirled together, winding over each other and twisting In and out. I could barely hear anything through the droning of the siren and my vision was slowly failing me. I felt my neck, wrists and ankles on by one get warmer.
"Can you get up?" A disembodied voice asked me. I mumbled a reply, unsure of what I had actually said. I was slowly pulled off the table and helped to stand. To walk. To fall. I could no longer keep myself up before everything started spinning. Then it all went black.
