Cursing as I stumbled into the crowded coffee shop, my laptop slightly slipping in my grasp, I pushed my way to the back corner of my usual chair. I sighed as I set my bag and laptop down, quickly tying my hair up into a bun as I sat down.
I pulled my laptop open, opening my applications for my school work. I groaned as I pulled out the stack of notes I still had to type, and my tape recorder I still had to listen to. I plugged my earbuds in, listening to music as I got to work typing.
A soft tap on my shoulder broke my from my trance. I quickly pulled my earbuds out, glancing up to the figure standing.
"Need something?" I asked, smiling up at the stranger.
He grinned softly, holding his cup of coffee and folder up. "Mind if I sit here, too? Everywhere else is full."
I shook my head, scooting my stuff closer to me. "No, not at all. You're welcome to sit," I replied, adjusting everything. He sat down in the chair across from me, laying his folder down.
"So, what's your name? I don't think I've seen you around here before," he spoke, glancing to me with a smile before sipping his coffee. "Oh, my name is Sage, Sage Jackson. I'm mostly hidden away here or at campus," I tell him with a laugh. He smiles while he replies. "Im Kaleo Irwin, and it's nice to meet you, Sage."
I grin softly at him, chewing my lip slightly. I save my work on my laptop before closing it, organizing my notes again that I had printed out. "What's your major, I'm assuming you attend here?" I speak, raising an eyebrow at him.
"I actually don't go the university, if you're referring to it. I go to the community college around the corner, majoring in music. What about you? You seem to have a lot of notes," he chuckles, waving a hand at the pile of papers in front of me.
I laugh softly, taking out my notebook before replying. "I'm actually going to the community college also, I'm working on getting my teaching degree to be an elementary teacher."
He quirks his eyebrows up at me, a grin playing on his lips? "A teacher, eh? That's amazing, though I imagine stressful." I nod slightly, agreeing to his statement. "It most certainly is, but it'll be worth it in the end." I smile, grabbing my phone to check the time.
"Hey, Kaleo, I hate to run, but I gotta go. Maybe we can meet up another time, and I can talk about how stressful education is, and you can tell me how music is going for you?" I smile at him, raising my eyebrows.
He nods quickly, his cheeks tinting lightly. "Yea, of course, here," he says, ripping off a corner from a paper he has in his folder. He scribbles his number down, handing it to me. "You can text me sometime, or you can run into me here, usually," he smiles up at me. "See you again?" he asks.
"Yea, of course. See you, Kaleo!" I quickly put my notes back into my bag, grabbing my laptop and rushing out with a wave.
"Until next time, Sage!" I hear him call after me.
The whole walk to my doctor's office, I struggle to keep the grin off my face. That night, my dream is filled with studying and music-majoring boys.
