"This is the river that separates our territory from DawnClan's"
"It's beautiful.."
They had spent nearly the entire day exploring DuskClan's Territory. The sun had begun to set, and it made the water bellow them glow orange. Fallen leaves littered the surface and moved gently downriver. Darkrose began padding along the river's edge, and Marshpaw, Leafpaw, and Mallowlight followed.
"The waterfall is up ahead," Mallowlight started. "Please try to avoid going there as much as possible. I've seen enough cats tumbling down it, never saw them again."
"What's at the bottom?" Leafpaw asked.
"We don't really know," Darkrose answered."There aren't any paths that lead down there, well, besides the waterfall."
Mallowlight snorted. "The only place that path will lead you is StarClan."
"How do cats get killed by it?" Leafpaw inquired."I can hear it from here."
Her sister was right. Marshpaw could hear a distant roaring. The waterfall sounded just as fearsome as Mallowlight and Darkrose had said it was. She wondered if it looked that way too.
"The last cat to fall in there was a DawnClan warrior," Mallowlight started."Her name was Nightflame, I think. Anyways, she got too caught up in a hunt and stopped running a little too late. I've also heard of cats being sucked down by the river when the current was too strong to swim in."
Marshpaw swallowed nervously. She'd stay away from here as much as possible. Darkrose must have sensed her fear, she rested her tail on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring look.
"We're pretty close to the edge now," she mewed."We'd better head back, unless you want to see the view."
Leafpaw's eyes shone with excitement. "I do!"
Marshpaw sighed. "Guess I don't have a choice, do I?"
Darkrose purred. "C'mon, you'll love it."
Marshpaw padded after her three companions. She barely held back a surprised gasp. Below her, orange trees stretched out as far as she could se. The river cut through the forests like a snake in tall grass. The setting sun only made the leaf-fall leaves brighter. It was so beautiful! Why hadn't any of the Clans found a way down there yet? There was probably enough prey and shelter to support a whole clan!
"It's even prettier during leaf-bare," Darkrose snapped Marshpaw out of her thoughts.
Mallowlight nodded. "During the day, the snow looks brighter than the star. At sunset, everything is so orange and peaceful looking. And at night... At night it looks like silverpelt itself has come down to the forest."
Leafpaw looked up. "Really? I'd love to see that."
Mallowlight purred. "You'll get to pretty soon. Leaf-bare's nearly here."
Darkrose's face fell. "Which means less prey and more terrible weather."
Leafpaw nodded. "My paws feel like they're going to fall off."
"Yeah,' Marshpaw mewed. "I knew SwampClan's territory was big, but I didn't think it was nearly this huge."
Darkrose turned away from the cliff and padded toward the woods. She gestured for the other she-cats to follow. Marshpaw trotted after her.
"I could definitely go for a fat salmon right now," Marshpaw heard Leafpaw mew from behind her.
Darkrose chuckled, her good mood returning. "I'm sure there's plenty of fresh-kill waiting for you at camp."

Marshpaw watched Leafpaw flop down into her nest.
"I can finally rest," she groaned. "And we don't have to wake up until sun high tomorrow."
Marshpaw lay down in her nest and closed her eyes. "Goodnight, sleepyhead."
Leafpaw scoffed."Goodnight."
