Let me preface this by saying this was my fist time writing, and since the original release changes have been made to better suit the story's direction, and writing style. This takes place before Volume 1, after the yellow trailer. Enjoy!

First Person

Out of all the places I thought I'd go in the world, Beacon academy was not one of them. I just like playing music. I'm a young man who is self taught in violin, guitar and piano. I've traveled from place to place, using whatever instruments i have at my disposal, usually playing my grandfathers violin. It was old and worn, but it still played beautiful music. I never questioned the choices I made that brought me here because I thought I was happy, or satisfied. I arrived in Vale a few weeks ago and already had become accustomed to life there (even thought I really had nowhere to live), But still, I was happy.

I sat outside a coffee shop, drinking my usually roast. It kept me warm in the brutal winter weather. The coffee was nice but I needed something to eat. Problem was I had next to no lin.

You: *sigh* "I guess I gotta earn my bread."

I set up on a curb, got out my violin, and did a quick tune up.

You: "Not that I don't mind playing that is."

The cold night called for calm, moving music. I started to play a piece that my grandfather played when I was little. My grandmother used to sing to this piece, but I'm not a singer, and in all honesty, I don't remember what she sang. Something about colors I think. After a while I realized I had drawn in a crowd. I't made me feel amazing to know that the people of this city enjoyed what I was playing. It was picturesque. The moon beamed down like a spotlight as I played my final note. The crowd around you erupted as I took a bow. I saw that my case was filled with lin. It looked ling enough to eat for weeks, maybe enough to get a decent place to stay.

You: "Thank you thank you."

The crowd was ecstatic. That might have been the best I've played in my entire life.

Citizen: "Play some more!"

I was on a high from preforming and I didn't want to stop. It was late though, so it was best to play only one more song. While preparing to play I took the time to recall the song I wanted to play.

Your grandfathers violin broke in two. You heard a collective "aww" as the body of your violin hit the ground. You felt mortified, like a part of you was destroyed. You didn't know what to do, so You just sat there staring at your now destroyed instrument.

???: "Its a shame that your violin broke. I enjoyed the music."

You looked up and saw a man with yellow hair. He stuck his hand out to help you up.

You: "It was a matter of time before it broke. This thing has lasted two generations before I received it"

You grabbed the mans hand and he pulled you up.

???: "Your not from around here are you?

You: "No I'm from haven. I'm here looking for a place to settle down though"

???: "And how is that working for you?"

You: "not great at the moment as my only source of income has . . . well"

???: "Hmmmm. . . why don't you come with me"

You: "Why? What are you going to do?"

???: "Maybe there is something I can do to help you. Were going to Signal Academy to make a new one. My name is Taiyang by the way."
