Circa 2012
To some, that humid week in August was the day the people of a particular apartment building got no sleep because of an arguing couple.
To others, a very select group of others, it was the night two soulmates split up.
["SHUT UP!" "NOT UNTIL YOU STOP BEING A DICK!"]
To some, the Lester-Howell flat was owned by two very polite and clumsy men who happen to love each other very much.
To others, the flat, or rather, the couple within, was a time bomb.
["...I'm so sorry about bumping into you!" "...."]
To some, the couple hated each other.
To others, they loved each other too much to handle.
["STOP PUSHING ME AWAY!!" "NO!" "THEN IM LEAVING" "PHIL! DON'T GO! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU!"]
To some, Dan was being arrogant and rude.
To others, he was just really insecure and didn't know how to handle the pressure on his shoulders.
["What would you know about love anyway?!" "Enough to know when I don't feel it!"]
To some, Phil was being harsh.
To others, Phil was sick of being constantly pushed away whenever he tried to help.
["YOU NEED TO SHUT THE FUCK UP RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THIS CLEARLY ISN'T WORKING!" "...." "NOW STOP BEING A COMPLETE BITCH ABOUT EVERY FUCKING THING! IT WASN'T MY FAULT SO STOP ACTING LIKE IT IS!" "...Phil..." "WHAT? ARE YOU REALLY GONNA GIVE ME THAT LOOK SO I GIVE IN WHEN TOMORROW WE'LL BE SCREAMING AGAIN?!"]
To some, the men were just too tired to talk.
To others, they didn't know what to say that wouldn't result in a fight.
["...." "...."]
To some, they just needed a small break.
To others, they didn't know if they'd ever be able to look each other in the eye again.
["I'm going to Chris's." "...." "Maybe I'll be back."]
But the month passed. And so did the seasons. And so did feelings.
And I can tell you, in that same flat, 4 years later, the same two men have been on 2 tours, have 2 books published, been to Japan, met Fall Out Boy, as well as Nick Jonas.
And to some, they loved each other.
And to others, they still do.
["I love you, bear!" "...You turnip! I love you too!"]
