Chapter 2-
"We'd better put on our robes, I expect we'll be arriving soon" Rose turned to face the two youngest in the carriage, she looked skeptically over at James, "do you think we really will have to fight a dragon, just like James said ?" , after some consideration it seemed neither Albus nor Scorpius wanted to think any longer about their fate which lay in Hogwarts. "I don't care" replied Albus .."just as long as I'm not in slytherin!" With a glance towards scorpius, he suddenly fell silent. " I urm,.. Didn't mean anything by it.."
"It's fine" mumbled Scorpius, but little did they know how he desired not to be on slytherin, he didn't want to be bad, he wanted to have friends and be brave or kind or intelligent; he want to be all of them. As for his father, he desired no different. Draco Malfoy had often told his son how he regretted the sorting hat's decision, how it had pushed him into a life he never wanted to lead.
He told him how he was the boy who made all the wrong choices. Scorpius did not wish to hurt how his father did, to wear a scar on his forearm which signalled a terrible past. He especially didn't want to not be able to sleep at night because the nightmares would just not stop....nor would the screaming.Albus and rose shared Several childhood anecdotes, they laughed and laughed, glancing in Scorpius' direction occasionally to check he didn't feel left out. Scorpius could not help feeling left out. Feeling like he'd missed out on friendships and memories, that seemed to be present in every other child's life. With a quick thought of bitterness towards his father, he decided to open up about himself. He talked endlessly of his excitement for school, The death of his beloved pets, and his family.
"what about your friends, what are they like?" asked Albus.
"Urm" ..." Well if I'm honest, I didn't really have any.."
~After 3 chocolate frogs, a handful of Bertie botts every flavour beans, and a quick chat about school, Scorpius felt (all apart from James) that they were becoming friends. Rose Albus and Scorpius laughed and talked for several hours until the scarlet train that had taken them so far , pulled up to a station signposted "Hogsmead".
With their new robes freshly pressed, and smarty worn, they collected their belongings and headed off the train. To Scorpius's delight, Albus and Rose did not leave as soon as they could, they stayed and carried on their conversation. With Rose linked between the two boys, they made their way to the end of the platform.
A huge dark shape ,over slowly towards them, "uncle Hagrid!!" Shouted Albus excitedly as he ran forward to hug the largest man Scorpius had ever seen.
"Alright 'al " he replied
They made their way to the lake and climbed into the boats, "Scorpius" Rose beamed "you have us now, we're your friends".
