"Come on girly, you can do it. Just one foot in front of the other. There ya go! Good girl!" Trinity cooed as she slowly started walking me out to the pasture.
I had a slight limp still, since I'm not fully recovered, but other than that minor inconvenience I felt as giddy and healthy as a young yearling. Trinity lead me to the pasture, the beautiful pasture that I had missed so much during my time cooped up in the barn, only taking a walk around the ranch so I wasn't to stiff. I couldn't help but glow with a happiness that filled my entire being, and I didn't even care to announce my presence to the other horses. The autumn air blew across my mane, the changing leaves on the trees fascinating me, as always, with their oranges, yellows, reds, and browns. I wished I was never such a fool to challenge Raye, it wasn't worth not seeing this beautiful scene, nor the heartache it brought.
I missed the hot days outside, the days where the sun had no mercy on any living creature, the days where the wind decides to take off and refuse to give even the slightest breeze. Those were the days that I loved. All the other horses hated those days and would wait by the fence to be brought into the stables. But when those days did come, I was the furthest away from the gates, running full speed, trying to take it all in and never let it go.
But today was not one of those days, in fact it was one of the first autumn days of the year.
As we approached the gate, I could just hear Raye,"Look! Here comes the little filly. Maybe she'll try to challenge me again!" Her roaring laughter followed.
I moved my lips, wanting to reply but knowing that if I did reply, Raye would probably give me more than a a kick to the ribs and a bite on the rump. I shook it off as Trinity opened the gate an let me in. She then took off my halter and said to me," Don't get in too much trouble today, or else mom said that were going to have to get rid of you. They say your too much of a 'precious money drainer' for them to pay." The human shook her head and walked out of the pasture an closed the gate.
I turned around to see, big surprise, Raye.
"You made some human friends while you were locked up?" I didn't reply,"That's good, because your going to need them when I'm through with you."
She slightly raised her front left hoof, most likely hoping that I didn't notice so she could strike me, but I just shook my head," Go ahead Raye. I deserve it. I messed up everything between you and Achilles. Kill me, I beg you. I'm never going to recover, I'm hopeless, I'm in so much pain you'll just be doing me a favor."
Raye put her hoof down, exactly what I wanted , and spoke so kindly that it was obvious that she didn't mean a single word,"Oh I'm so sorry. But I really don't want to kill you! I actually like you a little bit. I'm sure your not too hopeless. You dont look that bad," then hateful voice came," But since your in pain, hopeless , and begging me to kill you, no. I will let you suffer till you die from natural causes." Then she pranced away, like nothing happened.
I smiled, knowing that I am the total opposite from all the things that I said. I knew that if I begged Raye to kill me, she wouldn't kill me because she would be doing what I wanted her to do. I laughed a little more and limped my way over to the new fence in the middle of the pasture. It was put there because Raye and Achilles were starting to breed, but the humans didn't want that. They wanted Raye and Striker to breed. So Striker was the only stallion in the mare pen. Sucks for her. That also made me laugh.
As I grazed near the new fence, I sensed a presence come near me. I looked up only to see the eyes of Striker, glaring down on me,"Yes Striker?" I asked in a nonchalant tone.
"Hey Moon. I was wondering something." I nodded for him to continue,"Did you hear the rumor about Lovely being put down?"
This was news.
